Check out the latest updates regarding Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s injury status after he left Friday’s game against the Cubs.
Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. exited Friday’s game against the Chicago Cubs early due to injury.
During the top of the sixth inning, Guerrero Jr. was in the batter’s box and took a hack at a pitch. He grabbed at his lower back/side immediately after the swing and appeared to be in some discomfort trotting to first base. He left the game right after.
Guerrero Jr. went 0-for-3 in Friday’s game prior to departing.
The star first baseman is slashing a solid .279/367/.372 this season, though his .739 OPS is the lowest of his eight-year career. He’s posted 72 hits, 30 RBI and 40 runs with just four homers on the year. That lack of power has been atypical for the franchise talent.
The Blue Jays were down 7-2 when Guerrero Jr. exited Friday’s matchup against the Cubs. Toronto is 37-38 on the season prior to the conclusion of today’s game.
