Ryan Wohl previews tonight’s UFC Fight Night event in Vegas, headlined by Manel Kape vs. Kyoji Horiguchi.
The UFC is back in Las Vegas for a Fight Night just six days removed from their tremendous event at the White House on June 14. The Flyweight division heats up with a high-stakes matchup between No. 2 Manel Kape vs. No. 5 Kyoji Horiguchi heading this week’s Fight Night.
Currently, the UFC’s Flyweight division is one of the best in the sport with plenty of fresh contenders. Former Champion Alexandre Pantoja seems set to be Joshua Van’s next challenger. But the winner of this fight between Kape and Horiguchi could challenge the winner of the next title 125-pound fight.
Kape is 7-1 in his previous eight fights and has scored three consecutive knockouts. Although Horiguchi enters this fight at 35, he is on an incredible eight-fight unbeaten streak. Although this is the first time they are facing each other in the UFC, they have fought previously in Rizin. Horiguchi beat Kape in December 2017 by third-round submission. Right now, Horiguchi is on an eight-fight unbeaten streak and is 2-0 since returning to the UFC.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Kape is a -155 favorite with Horiguchi being a +30 underdog. Kape is getting 84 percent of the handle with 66 percent of bets in this fight. 34 percent of bets are on Horiguchi, while receiving 16 percent of the handle.
Long-time UFC veteran Ion Cutelaba is facing rising star Navajo Stirling, who is 4-0 in his first 18 months in the promotion. Stirling comes from the legendary gym, City Kickboxing in Auckland, New Zealand. Stirling has all the skills to follow a similar path as his teammate, Carlos Ulberg, who recently won the Light Heavyweight title. Cutelaba is Stirling’s toughest opponent to date, as he is 3-1 in his previous four bouts.
In the co-main event of this card, Stirling is a -310 favorite with Cutelaba as a +250 underdog. Stirling is a popular choice from the public, as he is getting 86 percent of bets and 85 percent of the handle. Cutelaba is only getting 15 percent of the handle and 14 percent of bets.
