Zach Thompson gives his top studs and value plays for Wednesday’s nine-game fantasy baseball slate on DraftKings.
On Wednesday night, we’ve got a solid nine-game slate for DFA fantasy baseball contests on DraftKings, although the weather in Boston could reduce it to an eight-game slate if they don’t want to play through the cold and drizzle in the forecast. The rest of the slate looks solid, with Coors Field in the mix to keep things especially interesting.
Let’s look through the 18 teams in action and highlight some studs and values for your MLB DFS lineups on DraftKings. This article was written before starting lineups were announced. One further note, Shohei Ohtani will be pitching on Wednesday, so he will not accrue hitting points in fantasy contests.

Shohei Ohtani, Los Angeles Dodgers at San Francisco Giants, $10,100 — Ohtani is an expensive pay-up play at pitcher, but he stands out as an outstanding option since he has been so good on the mound all year. He has pitched exactly six innings in each of his three starts, going 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA and 2.31 FIP. He has 18 strikeouts in his 18 innings and has held opponents to just a .113 batting average. He had a season-high 10 strikeouts last Wednesday against the Mets, and he’s in a favorable matchup this Wednesday against the Giants. He has only pitched against San Francisco once in his career, allowing one hit in three scoreless innings with four strikeouts. The Giants have scored the second-fewest runs in the majors this season and have just a .293 wOBA and 84 wRC+ as a team.
Didier Fuentes, Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals, $6,800 — The Braves are giving the ball to 20-year-old Didier Fuentes on Wednesday, allowing the youngster to make his case for keeping a spot in the rotation as the team gets healthier. Fuentes went an impressive 3-0 with a 0.66 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings this spring training. He worked out of the bullpen in one game early this season, going four innings with two hits and one run allowed with four strikeouts against the Royals. He went back to Triple-A Gwinnett for his last three starts, going 1-1 with a 2.16 ERA, 3.37 FIP and 20 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings in the minors. Fuentes struggled a little when he was forced to get to the majors a little early last year, but now that he’s more ready, he brings a very high ceiling with his strikeout upside this Wednesday.
2B/OF Fernando Tatis Jr., San Diego Padres at Colorado Rockies, $5,800 — Even though he spends most of his time in the outfield, Tatis has 2B eligibility, which makes him even easier to include in roster builds this Wednesday. Tatis is still searching for his first homer of the season, but he has a 67.2% hard-hit rate and 14.1% barrel rate that indicate he’s still mashing. He has averaged 7.4 FPTS per game, even without any homers, since he has six stolen bases and a .307 wOBA. He and the Padres are in a great spot against Tomoyuki Sugano ($6,100), who has been giving up lots of loud contact this season in Denver.
3B/SS Andruw Monasterio, Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees, $2,100 — Monasterio has been hitting second in the Red Sox order against lefties lately, putting him in a prime run-production spot. The utilityman is 6-for-28 (.214) with two doubles and a stolen base. He has a 60% hard-hit rate and has produced 23 FPTS across his last three starts. He’s a bargain way to fill in either of your spots on the left side of the infield while still getting good speed and scoring potential if he’s in the No. 2 spot on Wednesday night at Fenway.
Ronald Acuna Jr., Atlanta Braves at Washington Nationals, $5,600 — Acuna and the Braves will be in a good spot to back up Fuentes with run support as they face starting pitcher Zack Littell ($6,500), who served up 36 homers in 32 starts last year and is right back to it this season, giving up seven homers and 15 runs in his 19 innings across four games. Righties like Acuna are hitting .357 with a .413 wOBA against him, and Acuna is 2-for-6 with a homer against him in their past matchups. Acuna has hit safely in five straight games, not counting the game he left early after two hit-by-pitches. He is 15-for-51 (.294) over his last 13 games with a .393 wOBA and a 15.8% barrel rate. He’s hitting the ball well coming into this favorable matchup, making him a pay-up stud to consider in the outfield.
Everson Pereira, Chicago White Sox at Arizona Diamondbacks, $3,100 — Pereira was a top prospect in the Yankees system before being traded to the Rays for Jose Caballero and later traded to the White Sox this offseason. He hit .250 with a pair of homers in spring training and began the year as the starting right fielder in Chicago before landing on the IL with an ankle injury. Pereira returned last week and has been mashing since then, going 7-for-24 (.292) with three doubles, two homers, a .441 wOBA and a 50% hard-hit rate in his six games since returning. He has produced 13.4 FPTS per game during that stretch and should be back in the heart of the order again on Wednesday against lefty Eduardo Rodriguez ($8,400) on Wednesday night.
