The teaser video below catches you up with where some of our favorite Islanders stand with each other and clearly the tea is HOT. How are things between Amaya and Bryan? Love Island: Beyond The Villa Season 2 Episodes 1 and 2 Recap
(Warning: Spoilers ahead.)
Episode 1
Amaya and Bryan are no longer together and certainly no longer on good terms. Amaya says Bryan broke up with her (by text!) right after they got intimate with each other. She says it’s his loss, however, and her rewind button is nowhere to be found. She’s too busy living her life, celebrating her 26th birthday, working with all sorts of brands and making her music dreams come true. Winning Love Island is just the start for Amaya Papaya.
There’s even more drama with the T.J.-Iris-Pepe triangle. After leaving the villa with Pepe, Iris met up platonically with T.J. before a cheating scandal engulfed Pepe. That led Iris to break things off with him and get back with T.J. The duo is doing the long distance thing — he lives in Florida, she’s based in California — but one thing is for sure — neither has any love for Pepe at the moment as both feel like he is moving some kind of way that is less than truthful. Pepe maintains his innocence, saying he’s moved past all the drama. But if people want to paint him as the villain, he says go for it. Which is good because the following two ladies joined up with Iris to make sure they let everyone know how they feel about him.
Hannah may not have left the Villa with a man, but she did leave with a new gal pal in Iris. Which means that, of course, she had to take up for her girl when Pepe rolled up to the Islander get together in L.A organized by Amaya and Jeremiah (who both bailed), asking if he’s too … much of a wuss … to apologize to Iris in person. Iris knew that Hannah was going to say something and T.J. was sorry to have missed it. Hannah also isn’t afraid to call Bryan a loser too, but unlike Pepe he’s only at 85%, so Bryan is working his way up.
Gracyn was also close with Iris in the Villa, and while she hasn’t had a ton of opportunities to hang with Hannah post-Villa, she’s confident they’ll grow as friends. At the very least the trio find common ground in feeling done dirty by Pepe.
Clarke and Taylor seem pretty locked in, even as she is still adjusting to country life, which “smells like horse poo everywhere.” There has been the added wrinkle of Clarke having to take care of Taylor after he suffered a serious rodeo injury. And there’s still the issue of Clarke potentially moving to L.A., which could cause complications with Taylor, who still has two years of vet school tying him down to Oklahoma. They’re building a life together … but at the same time making sure they’re on the same page.
If the friend group is down on Bryan and Pepe, Chris is sticking with his boys. No, he’s still not balling overseas, but the premiere episode of Season 2 sees him ball with his guys. Bryan moved to L.A. to make the most of his post-show life, even if it’s been a bit rough since his breakup with Amaya. He says he never cheated on her, but he forgot that not leaving the island single meant he had to behave a certain way and he admits that he messed things up with her, so he would definitely like to have a sit down with her at some point.
Belle-A is missing the sense of family and community from the reunion and is hoping to get the crew back to that place of perfect butterflies and rainbows.
Episode 2
Iris wants to hold her annual Friendsgiving, but notes there are sides right now in the group — the Iris/Amaya side and the Pepe/Bryan side. And of course, the first thing Hannah says is that it should only be their circle. Friendsgiving not Friends-and-foes-giving. Things get awkward when Belle-A asks Bryan and Pepe if they got the invite to the Friendsgiving and they … did not. Hannah and Andreina, on the other hand, invite Coco because Andreina doesn’t want anyone to feel left out, unless you did something messed up … like Bryan and Pepe. But she and Clarke have some beef after Coco made some comment on a podcast. On the other side, Coco was disappointed Clarke didn’t advocate for her more in the Villa. Gracyn tries to mediate, initiating a conversation with Coco and Clarke which starts OK but goes off the rails when Coco says she almost feels like Clarke was lovebombing her in a way in the Villa. Clarke says that’s delusional and Coco has her feeling like a crazy person. Gracyn realizes she may have messed up.
Belle-A wants Bryan to get the chance to have a conversation with Amaya to clear the air. She thinks they’re all Villa family and they owe it to each other. Bryan wants to have that conversation because he thinks it will help him bridge the gap with the rest of the group. Meanwhile, Pepe notes that T.J., Iris and Hannah see him negatively because of the cheating allegations and he wants to get past this and move on and stop holding grudges like little kids. As Coco and Clarke are having their tête-à-tête at Friendsgiving, Belle-A broaches the subject of Bryan with Amaya, who says she doesn’t really care to hear what he has to say. And she’s not really happy that Belle-A is speaking with Bryan. At the same time, Bryan sends Amaya a text looking to have a convo. She’s never friends with her exes, but for the benefit of the group and to not make things awkward, she’s open to chatting. We’ll see where things go from here.
Meanwhile, T.J. wants some help making things official with Iris. He wants to make it a moment they can always remember. He wants to rent a cool car and take her on a drive up the PCH, which it turns out is her dream date. T.J. enlists Jeremiah and Amaya to help set things up to bring back a little bit of the Villa vibe to the proceedings. Iris hates surprises, but she trusts T.J. so it’s OK. After a bit of a snafu with balloons in a box, Iris says yes, noting that she’s been waiting for this moment.
Elsewhere in matters of romance, Andreina is a little confused with where she stands with Jeremiah. Hannah notes everyone online thinks they’re together, but Andreina says at times they talk like friends while he can also be a little touchy and acting a little cute. She feels like there’s something there. And Hannah is here for it. But Jeremiah just wants to stay friends because he loves their friendship and doesn’t want to jeopardize that.
Chris is also out looking for love, as he developed some feelings for Coco after the reunion and she’s 100% his type. He is blown away when she enters the restaurant, saying the whole aura in the place changed. For her part, Coco wants to see what Chris’ intentions are. But she thinks if she had stayed longer in the Villa they would have hit it off. She says she appreciated Chris’ upfrontness on their date and would be down for more, so we’ll see if this romance is a slam dunk (see what I did there).
