Charlie Cummings breaks down the latest injury news regarding Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu and Mystics forward Kiki Iriafen.
Big, big news for the New York Liberty and their fans. After missing 12 of 13 games to begin the season, Sabrina Ionescu is making her return.

Ionescu has been dealing with a back injury all season long. She made a brief return to action against the Dallas Wings on May 24th, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and seven assists. Ionescu has been an All-WNBA player in four consecutive seasons and was a crucial member of the 2024 championship squad. The Liberty currently sit at 9-4 and are atop the Eastern Conference.
Unfortunately for the Mystics, they aren’t getting good news on Sunday. Kiki Iriafen will miss her second straight game with an ankle sprain.
Iriafen, the fourth overall pick in 2025, leads the Mystics in rebounding. She’s also third on the team in scoring. With the Mystics sitting at 5-6, any missed games from one of their most important players is brutal. In their last game without Iriafen, Washington leaned on its rookies; Angela Dugalic got the start, playing 17 minutes, while Lauren Betts got a career-high 18 points off the bench in 20 minutes played.
Stay tuned to the DraftKings Network for updates on Ionescu and Iriafen’s injury status.
