When Suzuki sees the Sabres on the schedule, he begins to channel his inner Wayne Gretzky. The 26-year-old has notched an assist in each of his past eight meetings against the Sabres, which includes five multi-assist games. He especially loves to play in Buffalo at the KeyBank Center, notching an assist in each of his past four meetings there. Suzuki leads the Canadiens in assists this postseason with five, and he should continue his playmaking in the second round and in Game 1 against Buffalo. The Sabres struggled to hold down the Bruins’ top line in the first round, and the Canadiens have much more offensive talent than the Bruins.
LaCombe ranks second among defensemen in points (10) and has recorded a point in all but one game this postseason. He assisted on Anaheim’s only goal in Game 1 and has found success against Vegas in previous meetings, clearing this line in each of his past three games against the club. I don’t expect the Ducks to be held in check in back-to-back games, primarily because Carter Hart is an average goaltender, and this Ducks team ranked 13th in goals per game during the regular season. LaCombe leads all Ducks’ skaters in ice time and plays with the second power play unit, so the chances should be there to record his 11th point of the postseason.
