Ryan Wohl gives his best bet for Tai Tuivasa vs. Louie Sutherland at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night in Perth.
The first of two Heavyweight matchups on the Main Card of this week’s UFC Fight Night is Tai Tuivasa vs. Louie Sutherland. Tuivasa enters this contest on a six-fight losing streak, while Sutherland has begun his UFC career 0-2. Sutherland last lost to Brando Pericic, as Tuivasa’s previous bout was against Tallison Teixeira. Tuivasa was originally supposed to face Sean Sharaf, but Sharaf had to pull out after suffering a nose injury.
Check out my best bet for Tai Tuivasa vs. Louie Sutherland at UFC Perth.
Tuivasa appeared to be a future title challenger after recording five consecutive knockouts from October 2020 to February 2022. But now ‘Bam Bam’ is seeking his first victory in over four years. Tuivasa remains a fan favorite, especially when competing in his home country of Australia. In his last fight, Tuivasa showed signs of improvement, but still didn’t have enough cardio and energy to be effective for 15 minutes.
Sutherland is 10-5 with eight knockouts in his career, but his UFC career hasn’t gotten off to the start he was expecting. Although he has shown potential at times, Sutherland has struggled against top-tier competition throughout his career. He went 1-2 in PFL/Bellator and has yet to win in the UFC.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, Tuivasa is a -218 favorite while Sutherland is the underdog at +180. The over/under is set at 1.5 rounds with the under being -135 and the over at +105. 14 of Tuivasa’s 15 career wins have come by knockout. Even though Tuivasa hasn’t won a fight in over four years, this is his best opportunity to return to the win column.
