Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, Mel B and Terry Crews are back for the 21st season of America’s Got Talent. Sam Connon sorts through everything you need to know before the smash hit series returns to NBC and Peacock.
America’s Got Talent is back for Season 21, meaning hundreds of new acts are about to step into the spotlight. From singers and magicians to breath-taking acrobats and life-changing Golden Buzzers, the staple of the summer TV lineup will once again have it all.
If you are ready to sit back and watch one of the world’s most expansive talent shows, here is everything you need to know heading into the Season 21 premiere:
America’s Got Talent Season 21 Episode 1 will premiere on NBC on Tuesday, June 2 at 8 p.m ET. Episode 1 will be available to stream in real-time and on-demand on Peacock, as well.
For the first eight or nine weeks of the season, weekly episodes will recap the auditions that were held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Live shows will start when the quarterfinals get underway in August, at which point the show will start airing additional episodes on Wednesdays to disclose voting results. The same goes for the semifinals and finals, which will take place in September.
There are obviously going to be a handful of acts that become fan favorites over the course of this season, but there is plenty of star power not on stage, too. While the collection of A-listers on the judging panel has shifted over the years, the Season 20 group is running it back this year. Here’s a look at the familiar faces who will be present throughout Season 21:
As for the acts themselves, NBC recently released a clip online highlighting 14-year-old singer Lai Noelle‘s audition.
NBC already spoiled the fact that there will be a record-breaking three Golden Buzzers dealt out on the opening night of auditions – as well as one of the acts who received one – so keep an eye out. For those who don’t know, acts who earn a Golden Buzzer from a judge during auditions get an automatic pass to the semifinals, skipping the quarterfinals entirely. Each judge only gets one Golden Buzzer to use over the course of all of the auditions, too, so there will apparently only be one left on the table coming out of the season premiere.
Per usual, there will be plenty of singers, rappers, dance groups, daredevils, acrobats, gymnasts, magicians, drummers, comedians, contortionists and more competing for the $1 million grand prize.
Here is the official trailer for AGT Season 21:
