Bryan Armetta shares his three favorite MLB no run first inning (NRFI) prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Friday’s slate.
15 games between 28 teams are set for Saturday across Major League Baseball. For those looking to cash in quickly on a bet, nothing makes more sense than an NRFI. With that being said, there’s more to this one than meets the eye. Some pitchers thrive early, while others take more time to get settled in than others. Which NRFI picks are worth a closer look today?
Ahead of Saturday’s MLB contests, here are two NRFI bets worth placing on DraftKings Sportsbook.
If nothing else, the Mets have held their own on the mound this season. That’s due in large part to staff ace Freddy Peralta, acquired this winter from Milwaukee. Through 54.1 innings of work, the right-hander owns a 3.31 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 54 strikeouts (8.9 K/9). Few pitchers are better at starting out strong than the Dominican. Since 2025, he has a sparkling 86% NRFI rate and 1.88 first inning ERA. Miami’s offense isn’t bad by any means, but they certainly aren’t intimidating. The Marlins are averaging 4.29 runs per game, 17th in baseball. That’s not enough to suggest Peralta will falter early this afternoon.
For the home team, it’ll be Max Meyer on the bump in this one. The former top prospect has taken some time adjusting to life in the majors. However, he’s putting together the best season of his four-year career. Over ten starts, he’s notched a 2.85 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 60 strikeouts (10.1 K/9). Just as impressive, he owns a lifetime 80% NRFI rate at LoanDepot Park. In comparison, the Mets are averaging the second-fewest runs per game in the National League (4.02). Other than Juan Soto, there aren’t many threats in New York’s lineup at the moment. Meyer shouldn’t have too much trouble escaping the first unscathed.
Texas will hand the ball to one of the league’s most underrated arms, Nathan Eovaldi. While he doesn’t have major swing and miss stuff at this stage of his career, the veteran is about as steady as they come. Over his last 22.0 innings pitched, Evo has surrendered one earned run (0.41 ERA). He’ll attempt to keep rolling this evening against a lackluster Angels lineup. Los Angeles is putting up 4.04 runs per game, seventh-worst in the sport. To boot, the Halos have recorded the fourth-worst OPS against right-handed pitching (.671). Eovaldi has a minuscule 1.03 ERA over his previous five meetings with the Angels.
On the other side, it’ll be relatively unproven hurler Walbert Urena taking the hill. So far, so good for the 22-year-old. He’s put up a 2.70 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 30 strikeouts (8.1 K/9) over six starts. In each of those outings, he’s pitched a clean first inning as well. It’s not as if this Rangers lineup has been tearing it up either. They’ve delivered a 26.54% YRFI rate, tied for the seventh-lowest mark in the league. Urena, following a six-inning, scoreless showing vs. the A’s last week, can keep Texas off the board early on Saturday.
