Cooper Albers previews Beneil Dariush vs. Quillan Salkilld at UFC Perth.
Surging Australian prospect Quillan Salkilld looks to crack the lightweight top-15 Saturday night, taking on division linchpin Beneil Dariush in the co-main event of UFC Perth.
Dariush (23–7–1, 17–7–1 UFC) has dropped three of his last four, most recently getting starched in 16 seconds by Benoit St. Denis in November. Salkilld (11–1, 4–0 UFC) pushed his winning streak to 11 with a first-round submission of Jamie Mullarkey in January, and he’ll look to keep the momentum rolling in front of the hometown crowd.
Salkilld enters as a heavy -470 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, while Dariush sits as a +360 underdog. The total is set at O/U 1.5 rounds.
Father Time is exceptionally harsh on combat athletes, and he’s seemingly caught up with Beneil Dariush. The former third-ranked lightweight in the world has spiraled in the twilight of his career, dropping three of his last four bouts — all by first-round knockout.
Dariush remains a decorated jiu-jitsu specialist, as evidenced by his June 2025 decision win over Renato Moicano. But the American southpaw enters Saturday night at 37 years old, with a fully compromised chin. His recent form has raised serious doubts about whether he can still keep up with the next generation of lightweights.
Saturday night marks a joyous homecoming for Perth’s own, Quillan Salkilld. The 26-year-old lightweight returns to the “Land Down Under,” hot on the heels of a first-round submission of Jamie Mullarkey at UFC 325 in Sydney earlier this year.
The former Dana White’s Contender Series standout hasn’t lost since his professional debut in 2021, and he’s gotten off to a flawless start in the UFC. Within the promotion, he’s showcased a well-rounded attack — with an emphasis on high-pressure striking and quick stoppages. Three of his first four trips to the Octagon have yielded first-round finishes, highlighted by a 19-second knockout of Anshul Jubli in his Feb. 2025 debut.
Beneil Dariush is exceptionally vulnerable against rapid strikers at this stage of his career. Enter, a rapid striker — with a rocket on his back.
Surging prospect Quillan Salkilld has looked right at home inside the Octagon, and he should march down the grizzled veteran from the opening bell. Despite entering the biggest fight of his career in his hometown, don’t expect him to savor the moment when one shot could be all it takes to crack the division’s top 15.
