Bryan Armetta shares his three favorite player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Saturday’s four-game NBA playoffs slate.
A loaded four-game set of NBA postseason action is on tap today. To get things started, the Magic and Pistons match up for a crucial Game 3. Later, the Thunder attempt to go up 3-0 on the eighth-seeded Suns. Next, the Knicks will attempt to earn a road win against the Hawks. To close out the night, the Nuggets and Timberwolves will battle in Minneapolis.
Which players are worth consideration ahead of Saturday’s matchups? Here are my three favorite NBA prop bet picks on DraftKings Sportsbook for today’s postseason contests.
It’s been rough for the Suns to start the postseason, especially on offense. Phoenix scored a combined 191 points during Games 1 and 2, looking lost on that end of the floor. A stingy Thunder defense has certainly made things more difficult. One player that could catch fire for the home team on Saturday is Collin Gillespie. During the regular season, he averaged 12.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. In addition, the guard shot at an efficient 40% clip from three-point range.
If there’s any weakness for OKC, it’s from beyond the arc. The defending champs are allowing 14.3 three-pointers made per game to opponents, third-most in basketball. Still, that alone isn’t enough for me to buy-in on Gillespie. After all, the Villanova alum has shot a combined three-of-nine (33%) from long distance in this series. A Thunder defense equipped with premier wing stoppers such as Lu Dort and Alex Caruso will make things tough as well. An unproven youngster going up against the best defense in the NBA? It’s difficult to envision a trio of treys in this one.
Suddenly, the Knicks find themselves with their backs against the wall following a disappointing Game 3 loss. One player that did show up on Thursday in Atlanta was OG Anunoby. New York’s two-way wing was a menace on both ends of the floor, throwing down dunks and hitting tough contested shots. Over 37 minutes of action, the veteran notched 29 points and nine rebounds while shooting 56% from the field. Interestingly, head coach Mike Brown opted for a small ball lineup at various points during the second half. While the on court results were mixed, it shows the trust he has in Anunoby on the glass.
If the Knicks opt for a similar approach in this one, don’t be shocked if OG plays more at the 5. After all, the wing has snagged at least eight rebounds in each of the first three games of this series. Atlanta is somewhat undersized, especially with backup big Jock Landale (ankle) injured. Anunoby has cleared six rebounds in eight of his last ten meetings with the Hawks, including the playoffs. In a must-win contest for New York, don’t be shocked if he logs close to 40 minutes tonight. All signs are pointing to plenty of boards for the 28-year-old in this one.
The Timberwolves have now won two straight, with their eyes set on a commanding 3-1 series lead. Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle are the offensive catalysts in Minnesota. However, don’t forget about Donte DiVincenzo. The eighth-year pro is streaky as a shooter, to say the least. Still, few players in the association can catch fire like this sharpshooter. This postseason, the guard is averaging 14.3 points per game on 52% shooting from the field and 50% shooting from three. In addition, he’s drained at least three three-pointers in each of his outings so far.
Will DDV’s hot shooting continue on Saturday? Four straight games might feel like a lot, but the veteran is more than capable of reaching this total. After all, the Nuggets aren’t the most intimidating perimeter defense. They are giving up 13.6 three-pointers made per game to opponents, 13th-worst in basketball. DiVincenzo has reached three treys in six of his last ten meetings with Denver as well. With all eyes on Edwards, Minnesota’s underrated ball handler should have plenty of open looks on Saturday night.
