To be blunt, Tuch has had an awful series thus far, recording zero points and routinely playing lazy defense that directly resulted in goals for the Canadiens. He also expressed how badly he has played in a recent press conference and is supposed to be a veteran with playoff experience for this young Sabres team. A bounce-back feels likely, and he recorded four points across three road outings against the Bruins in the first round. He’s notched a point in 10 of his past 17 meetings against Montreal. Even if head coach Lindy Ruff doesn’t alter the first line, Tuch should see additional opportunities on the power play.
I’m aware that Barbashev doesn’t shoot the puck often, but two shots on goal is a very low number, and there’s some serious value here at -110. Barbashev has cleared this total in each of his last three outings, while averaging six shot attempts per game. Considering he notched 2+ SOG in just two of six games while averaging just 1.8 shot attempts per game during the first round, there’s been a clear switch in aggression in the second round thus far. It simply comes down to the matchup, as the Ducks ranked inside the top-half of the league in shots allowed per game during the regular season and have allowed the third-most high-danger chances this postseason.
