Check out the latest injury updates for Tigers pitcher Troy Melton ahead of Monday’s game against the Astros.
There’s been a change of plans on the Detroit Tigers’ lineup card with first pitch of tonight’s game against the Houston Astros fast approaching.
Starting pitcher Troy Melton has now been scratched from his scheduled start due to back tightness, per the team.
RHP Drew Anderson will start in his place.
Melton, in his second MLB season, has gone 3-0 through his first four games of the year. He has a 2.81 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 14 Ks in 25.2 IP. The young RHP’s absence hurts for Detroit, especially since he’s allowed two or fewer earned runs in three of his four starts and gets a date against Houston offense that can put up runs in a hurry when hot.
The Tigers are 29-42 prior to tonight’s game against the Astros. They’re fourth in the AL Central as things stand.
