Bryan Armetta shares his two favorite player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Wednesday’s two-game NBA playoffs slate.
Game 2’s are on tap for this evening’s NBA postseason slate. At 7:00 pm ET, the 76ers will look to bounce back following a blowout Knicks win on Monday. Later at 9:30 pm ET, the Spurs are attempting to even up their series with the scrappy Timberwolves. One thing is for certain: expect plenty of must-watch hoops drama on Wednesday.
Who should bettors target ahead of tonight’s playoff matchups? Here are my two favorite NBA prop bet picks on DraftKings Sportsbook for Wednesday’s contests.
It certainly wasn’t a banner day for Tyrese Maxey, who struggled during Philadelphia’s 137-98 Game 1 defeat. The guard shot three-of-nine from the field (33%), only finding success when getting to the free throw line. Still, we’ve seen the two-time All-Star enough to assume this is a mere bump in the road. After all, the 25-year-old was his usual productive self in round one against Boston. During those seven games, Maxey averaged 26.9 points and 6.6 assists in addition to 46/42/96 shooting splits.
The Knicks have been playing stifling defense as of late, swarming opposing ball handlers. Still, this is a matchup the Kentucky alum has dominated in before. Prior to the postseason, Maxey drained at least three three-pointers in each of his last four meetings with New York. In fact, the guard has tallied three or more 3PM in six of his last ten outings. The Knicks are giving up 13.7 makes per game from long distance, tied for 11th-most in the NBA. With all eyes on Joel Embiid inside the arc, Philadelphia’s other superstar should have some opportunities tonight from deep.
It was an uncharacteristically poor Game 1 for Victor Wembanyama offensively. San Antonio’s face of the franchise scored just 11 points on five-of-17 shooting (29%). That was due in part to the excellent two-way play of Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert. The four-time Defensive Player of the Year remains one of basketball’s best rim protectors. This postseason, the Frenchman is putting up 7.6 points, 10.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 51% from the field.
When battling one of the best centers on Earth, you need some height on the floor. Despite middling counting stats, Gobert’s defense ensures around 30 minutes of playing time from head coach Chris Finch. It’s not as if the Spurs are automatic when it comes to stifling opposing big men. Their 68.0% defensive rebounding rate in the playoffs only ranks ninth out of 16 teams. Gobert has tallied 19+ points + rebounds in four of his seven postseason appearances. In addition, he’s reached this mark in three of his last five games against San Antonio. It may not be pretty, but the Stifle Tower should find a way to reach this total tonight.
