Ciaran Doyle gives his best anytime goalscorer bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Monday’s FIFA World Cup slate.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup has finally arrived, and Groups G and H will get started on Monday as we see some of the top teams in the tournament get their campaigns underway.
We have four games on the slate for Monday. In Group H, Spain will take on Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia will face Uruguay. In Group G, Belgium will play Egypt, while Iran will face off against New Zealand. Let’s take a look at my two favorite goalscorer bets for Monday’s slate.
Oyarzabal was the joint top scorer for Spain in the UEFA qualifying for this tournament alongside Mikel Merino, as they both scored six goals in six games. In this case, I’ll take the guy playing up top as forwards usually get the most chances, especially when you have wingers such as Nico Williams and Lamine Yamal. Oyarzabal netted 15 times in La Liga this season for Real Sociedad. The odds for him aren’t great in this one, but that’s due to the competition that Spain are facing. Cape Verde couldn’t have gotten a tougher first World Cup game in their country’s history, and I fear for them that it would be an American Football scoreline.
The former Liverpool striker led Uruguay in scoring during CONMEBOL qualifying, scoring five times for his country. In the 2024 Copa America, he scored twice in the tournament. Nunez will be the main man up top for Uruguay and I expect goals to be scored in this game against a scrappy Saudi Arabia team. Nunez scored nine times for Al Hilal this past season, but only played in 24 matches. In the 2022 World Cup, Saudi Arabia conceded five times in three games. This campaign their group looks even tougher, and I expect them to struggle to keep out the goals. Uruguay should net a few times in this one and if they do, expect Nunez to be a part of it.
