Friday’s slate features a full schedule of games, highlighted by Framber Valdez continuing his strong run for Detroit, Gavin Williams building on an impressive start to the season, and Paul Skenes extending his dominant stretch on the mound.
Valdez has bounced back after being tormented by the Twins recently. He’s gone on to allow just two runs on seven hits in his last 13 innings. Abbott has not looked like himself lately, as he’s given up 10 runs on 14 hits through his last two starts, spanning 7.2 innings.
Bello has been getting torched on the mound, allowing at least three runs in three of his four starts with a 6.75 ERA and an xERA of 6.84. Kremer has only made two starts but has struck out an unusually high number of batters with 16 through 11 innings.
Williams has been fantastic, aside from his 5.1 BB/9. He has a 2.12 ERA with a 3.50 xERA and a 12.1 K/9. Scherzer is looking for some consistency as he currently sports a 7.16 ERA with an xERA of 6.10.
Lorenzen hasn’t been as bad as his 7.48 ERA indicates, but his 5.74 xERA isn’t much better. Peralta has allowed no more than three hits in three of his last four starts.
Bradley has been great thus far, having allowed no more than two runs in a single start this season. Rasmussen is coming off his worst start of the season, allowing four runs on two hits through 3.2 innings against the Pirates.
Painter is due for some positive regression, as his 4.42 ERA comes with an xERA of 2.92 and a 2.49 FIP.
Kikuchi tossed six scoreless innings for the first time this season against the Padres his last time out. Cameron has been throwing the opposite of shutouts lately, allowing 12 runs on 13 hits in his last 9.1 innings.
Skenes hasn’t allowed more than a run in four straight starts, spanning 21.1 innings. Woodruff’s strikeout numbers are lower than usual, but he’s been very efficient at getting outs, owning a 3.42 ERA with an xERA of 2.78.
Mikolas will slide back into the rotation after being used as a bulk reliever in his last two appearances. As a starter, Mikolas has allowed 19 runs on 22 hits, including five home runs, through 12.1 innings. Fedde has been limiting the damage and has a 3.92 ERA with an xERA of 3.58 through 20.2 innings.
Severino continues to issue walks at an insanely high rate, with at least three walks in every start. Eovaldi has been allowing home runs at an unusually high rate, with five allowed through 26.2 innings.
Warren has been great through five starts, posting a 2.49 ERA with an xERA of 3.65 and a 3.06 FIP. McCullers continues to struggle as we saw last season, allowing at least three runs in three straight starts.
Kirby has been giving up a lot of hits, but has been limiting the damage. Despite allowing 14 hits, he’s only allowed three runs to cross in his last two starts. Pallante, despite being a groundball pitcher, is currently inducing them at the lowest rate of his career at 51%.
Taillon has already allowed six home runs through 22.2 innings and four starts. Sheehan has been better lately, but has still allowed five runs on eight hits through 11 innings.
After allowing two runs through his first three starts, Alcantara has been tagged for 10 runs on 15 hits through 11 innings. Houser has been as bad as advertised with a 5.40 ERA and an xERA of 5.26.
