England enters its final Group L match in position to advance, but there is still work to do after a scoreless draw against Ghana left the top of the group unsettled.
England opened the tournament with a 4-2 win over Croatia, then played Ghana to a 0-0 draw in its second match. Panama has been more competitive than the table suggests, but it has already been eliminated after back-to-back 1-0 losses to Ghana and Croatia.
Panama and England will meet Saturday, June 27 at 5 p.m. ET at New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. DraftKings Sportsbook has odds for the Group L matchup.
England is a massive favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, sitting at -488 on the 90-minute Moneyline. Panama is +1567 to pull off the upset, while the draw is listed at +733.
The total is set at 2.5 goals, with the over priced at -212 and the under at +194. England has the clear talent edge and already scored four goals against Croatia, but the Ghana draw showed that Thomas Tuchel’s side still has to prove it can break down a compact defensive setup.
This game still matters for England. The Three Lions are level with Ghana on four points, one point ahead of Croatia, and a win would guarantee their place in the Round of 32 while giving them a strong chance to finish first in Group L. A draw would still put England in good position to advance, but it could leave the group winner up to Ghana’s result against Croatia.
For Panama, the knockout path is gone, so this is about pride and ending the tournament on a stronger note. Panama has only conceded twice in two matches, but it has not scored yet, and it will need its best attacking performance of the group stage to make England sweat.
