Zack Wheeler, Philadelphia Phillies vs. Cleveland Guardians ($10,000) — Wheeler underwent thoracic outlet surgery in August of 2025. He made his season debut on April 25 and has pitched 31.2 innings. The strikeout rate is down to 25% after being 28.5% and 33.3% over the last two seasons, but the walk rate is only 5.8% while the FIP is 2.37. Injury schminjury. The average exit velocity is 87.7 mph while the barrel rate is 7.3%. He’s put up double-digit FPTS in all five starts with three over 20 FPTS. In his two most recent starts, he went 7.1 and 7.0 innings, allowed a total of one earned run, struck out 12 and finished with 22.3 and 32.8 FPTS. What injury?
Framber Valdez, Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles ($7,500) — Valdez is a tough pitcher to like for both fantasy and real life. The strikeout rate is only 18.3% and he’s kind of a jerk. You want consistency? You’ve come to the wrong place because Valdez has been all over the map this season. He has six games with fewer than 20 FPTS, including two starts in the negative. He does have four starts over 20 FPTS, though. Baltimore is sixth in strikeouts, 19th in wOBA and 17th in wRC+.
Colson Montgomery, Chicago White Sox at San Francisco Giants ($4,400) — Montgomery has a 30.3% strikeout rate but the ISO is .269. That’s translated to 13 home runs, 23 runs and 31 RBI in 201 plate appearances. Against right-handed pitching, Montgomery has hit nine of his 13 home runs while posting a wRC+ of 125 and an ISO of .266. Adrian Houser has a 5.5 FIP and paltry 3.3% K-BB%. The average exit velocity is 91.4 mph. Lefties have hit six of the eight home runs allowed while the FIP is 7.58 and K-BB% is -0.8% against them.
Weston Wilson, Baltimore Orioles vs. Detroit Tigers ($2,500) — Wilson has one home run, six runs, three RBI and two stolen bases in 40 plate appearances. Against left-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 129 while the ISO is .160. Framber Valdez does struggle against righties with a 4.48 FIP and 7% K-BB%. Wilson has put up at least 3 FPTS in four of the last five games with a high of 17 FPTS.
Riley Greene, Detroit Tigers at Baltimore Orioles ($4,300) — Greene is slashing .326/.422/.475 with a .149 ISO in 211 plate appearances. Normally, he’s a .260-ish hitter with an ISO over .200. Well, the batting average is fueled by a .462 BABIP, so that’s going to come down. As for the ISO, I think it will get back over .200 eventually. The average exit velocity is 90.7 mph, launch angle is 15.1 degrees, barrel rate is 13% and the bat speed is 75.2 mph. Against right-handed pitching, the wRC+ is 149. Brandon Young has a 5.22 FIP and 6% K-BB%. The average exit velocity is 90.6 mph with a launch angle of 17.1 degrees. Against lefties, the FIP is 5.36 while the K-BB% is only 2.5%.
Justin Crawford, Philadelphia Phillies vs. Cleveland Guardians ($2,700) — Crawford has two home runs, 12 runs, 12 RBI and seven stolen bases in 156 plate appearances. The strikeout rate is 19.2% while the ISO is .121. Both home runs have come off a right-handed pitcher while the wRC+ is 121 against them. The sprint speed of 29.6 ft/sec is in the 97th percentile. He bats toward the bottom of the lineup, so no bueno, but he’s cheap, has speed, a little pop and put up eight, 11 and 11 FPTS in three of the last six games.
