Hey DEV Community! 👋

I wanted to share something I've been working on for a while — StudyMind Pro, a Windows desktop app built for students and visual learners.

I started building it around 2022 as a small web app, but life got in the way and I never fully finished it. Recently, with the help of AI tools, I finally completed it as a proper Windows desktop app. It felt like a big milestone, so I wanted to share it here.

What is StudyMind Pro?

StudyMind Pro is a local-first Windows study workspace that combines several tools students actually need — all in one place, with no account required.

Core Features

  • 🗺️ Visual Mind Maps — Organize your subjects and topics visually with a node-based mind map interface
  • 📝 Topic-Based Notes — Attach notes directly to each node/topic in your mind map
  • 📄 PDF Viewer — Built-in PDF viewer with zoom and fullscreen mode, so you never leave the app
  • 🖼️ Photos & Links — Save images and links inside any topic for quick reference
  • 📲 Wi-Fi Share (Phone → PC) — Scan a QR code with your phone and send files directly to your PC over Wi-Fi
  • 💾 Automatic & Manual Backups — Never lose your work
  • 🔒 Local-First Storage — Everything stays on your machine. No cloud, no account, no subscription
  • 📦 Windows Installer — Easy setup, runs like a native app

The Standout Feature: Wi-Fi Share

This is the feature I'm most proud of.

How it works:

  1. Open StudyMind Pro on your PC
  2. A QR code appears in the app
  3. Scan it with your phone
  4. Send PDFs, photos, notes, or any files from your phone directly to your PC — over the same Wi-Fi network

No cables. No cloud accounts. No emailing files to yourself. It just works.

This came from a real pain point — constantly trying to get photos of handwritten notes or PDF slides from my phone onto my PC without friction.

Who Is It For?

  • 🎓 Students managing PDFs, slides, and notes
  • 🧠 Visual learners who think in diagrams and maps
  • 📚 Anyone studying from screenshots or phone photos
  • 🗂️ People who want their study materials organized around subjects, not scattered in folders

Built With AI Help

I want to be transparent — I started this project years ago but couldn't finish it alone. Using AI coding tools, I was finally able to complete the features I always envisioned. I think that's worth mentioning because it's part of the story of how indie developers are building today.

Try It Out

👉 Download StudyMind Pro: https://hassoub7.gumroad.com/l/iaxxvv

It's a Windows app available now. I'd love any feedback from this community — especially on the UI, the Wi-Fi Share feature, or anything you'd want to see added.

Thanks for reading! 🙏
