The "Aesthetic" Problem

In 2021, I discovered the Fliqlo clock screensaver for Windows. It was everything I liked: minimal, aesthetic, and clean. It quickly became a permanent part of my desk setup.

However, there was a massive gap: no Android version! This meant my screensaver experience was never consistent across all my screens. As someone who cares deeply about workspace aesthetics, wallpapers and screensavers aren't just "small details"—they shape the daily environment and workflow.

The AI Pivot

Two days ago, I decided to stop waiting for someone else to build this. I realized that with the current state of Generative AI, I could bridge this gap myself.

Drawing on my background in software development and AI research, I teamed up with AI to turn a years-long personal pain point into a functional product in record time.

I used AI to help navigate the technical hurdles of:

  • Windows: Implementing the classic .scr screensaver logic.
  • Android: Developing a native DreamService (Android's "Daydream" system) for a seamless mobile experience.

Introducing Flipqlo 🕰️

Flipqlo is a 100% open-source, dual-platform flip clock screensaver.

  • Windows Support: Native .scr installation for your desktop.
  • Android App: Full DreamService support for phones and tablets.
  • One Repo, One Flow: Managed via GitHub for easy collaboration and a unified release flow.
  • Privacy-First: No trackers, no bloat—just the flip.

Lessons Learned

Building this was a personal reminder that AI is not just for "productivity hacks". It is a powerful tool for personal agency. It allows us to take ownership of the software we use every day and solve specific problems that larger developers might overlook.

I Need Your Feedback!

The project is currently in its early stages, and I’m looking for the community's help. I’m specifically looking for:

  • Contributors: I’d love help polishing the "flip" animations and adding customization options like 12h/24h toggles.
  • Testers: How does it run on your specific Windows version or Android device?
  • Ideas: What features would make your desk setup feel more complete?

If you care about clean setups and cross-device consistency, I’d love for you to check it out!
