When a Tool becomes a GAP TRAP
CARLOS ENRIQ · 2026-04-30 · via DEV Community

Im finally just write each word of this post, im a positive guy about LLMs uses and evolution, as i think i know they are not the solutions but are powerfull tools in his scope to acelerate a lot of flows, to understand this i research about the theme and i fall in love with all ia scope (NLP,DeepL,ML,etc) , as a idealist for make objectives but and pragmatic to implement steps i accepted to start using what the market brings cause still a gap of computing to use this part of knowledge and make experiments also it not discriminate ,you can at the moment use small LLMs and other specialized or quantized models, but for be pragmatic :step1 define de scope ,step2 what are you the best at the moment , step3 where you want to go , step4 how yo go there , for me solved ."sinergy as a specialized on telecom with base in networking and formed as a system engineer",just fusion "automatized networks" , in the road i reforce dessign patterns, force operative systems, make $ applying telecom knowledge to keep amount of base to keep growing but i dont see coming .. the trap , all concepts reforced start to build and DMS on electron and just see all in one , IO,Multitask, dlls, binarys memory control ,render, lazy load, etc at the moment i use my tools based on obsidian,my tool skip the gaps of link and create multiple files, acelerate more develops ,documents,2nd tool product a module of an ERP, to manage (FACTORING,SERVICE,all the cycle). Money comes grow up fast ,next the "TRAP" use vs code and as i know a little to build things and touch electron just go, make my own ide for app desktop in rust great i can use apis on my ide and use local llms so no 3rd party guys, discovered all telemetry how tokenizator and flows go , the trap o tool call every time,so that think to enforce better and better use of the tool "vscode" make me do personalized mcp better instruct ,rethink all the time how organize knowledge to automatized everything "error" , lost each week 2 days at least to improve to use a tool was not made to be improved by an user ,next try copilot cli ,more flexible "apparently" folders changued direction ,claude workspace fusion , difference of folder organization , workflow self-imposed ,edit prompts edit rules ,disallow all tools i can, strip every prompt i can , changue of 2 to 3 days just to improve, next step changue to "claude code" ,same thing less invade ,more things to improve "but" accept the changues ,as you see the mindset works arround a tool the focus was lost the mind of improve everything as i see its a trap sometimes just let the things flow and just keep move priorities i think a lot of people have this cause a "programmer" always try to made things to his self as i think ,as a mid guy dev ,if you pass a similar loop , perfect tool never exist, cause i dont want waste your time reading a reflexing post , these are the tips i found, fixes on gh exist a lot of tools applying the same concept the pragmatic solutions are.

Search where system prompt injects and cut or reduce if the tool permit.
Delete all tools of the app and just put what you use.
You dont need any memory thats gap trap just use a main index and what you go to use for that proyect.
As a programming flow always divide everything in pieces for improve what you need for do this better you need to know about architecture design of systems an what do you need for your project this cant be a improve you can do if you dont know the base.

Why use rag if you have a correct index that defines all your scope, thats overengineering with not sense.

Use a file before get full context and tell your "agent" resume write it in that everything he need to continue.Try it its better than a compact.

I challengue you to test, just give me a regard on the comments if it work for you.

If you're rich forget all just put best pattern designs use defined steps and vibe. Jajaja , i have more tools to manage these i evolved my tool and now i can manage swarms these have a lot of impact but is so dangerous for your money , for security ,for all.. i see yesterday kimi llm put the concept to ..well all my best hopes for all.. peace.
