The first episode of Sugar season 2 is now streaming on Apple TV. Here’s what to expect from the show’s return.
More than two years after its first-season finale, Sugar returned to Apple TV tonight for season 2.
Starring Colin Farrell (The Penguin) in the titular role of private detective John Sugar, the show’s eight-episode second season will run weekly through August 7.
In addition to Farrell, the show’ second season stars Laura Donnelly (Werewolf by Night), Tony Dalton (Better Call Saul), Jin Ha (Civil War), Raymond Lee (Top Gun: Maverick), among others. Shea Whigham (American Hustle) is also slated for a special appearance.

“Sugar” is a contemporary, unique take on one of the most popular and significant genres in literary, motion picture and television history: the private detective story. Season two ushers in the return of Los Angeles’ iconic private detective and film connoisseur John Sugar, played by Farrell, who stayed on earth in hopes to find his sister as he takes on a new missing persons case — searching for the older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer. As the investigation expands into a sinister, city-wide conspiracy, Sugar must reckon with himself to answer the question –– how far will he go to do what’s right?
