Over the weekend, Bloomberg reported that new Apple TV 4K and HomePod hardware this fall will bring Siri AI support, and now Macworld has found tvOS 27 beta code that references the new Siri.
Rumors have long indicated that new Apple TV 4K and HomePod devices are in the works. They were originally expected to ship last fall, but due to Siri AI’s delays, they were pushed back.
All signs point to those new products finally shipping this fall.
Siri AI is widely expected to be a tentpole addition to each new product. When Apple unveiled its overhauled assistant at WWDC, the Apple TV and HomePod weren’t mentioned, and tvOS 27 and HomePod 27 were mostly absent too.
But Filipe Espósito at Macworld has found evidence of Siri AI in tvOS 27 beta code. After mentioning that beta 1 included references to Apple Intelligence features, Espósito writes:
Now, the second developer beta of tvOS 27 adds another intriguing piece to the puzzle.
New code associated with the HomePod setup process includes references to Apple’s next-generation Siri experience powered by Apple Intelligence. While the code does not reveal exactly how these features will work, it suggests that Apple is actively preparing tvOS and HomePod software for Siri AI integration.
That’s significant because, once again, Siri AI isn’t currently available on any HomePod or Apple TV model.
Apple TV and HomePod software share the same underlying code, which is expected to extend to the new HomePad / HomePod Touch product later this year too. Some signs have indicated the OS could potentially be rebranded homeOS in the future.
Siri AI coming to HomePod and Apple TV isn’t a huge surprise, but it’s encouraging to see current tvOS 27 beta code support the rumors.
