EXCLUSIVE: Blood on the Promontory, the Western drama from Warfare‘s Ray Mendoza that we announced earlier this month, has set Sam Worthington (Avatar franchise), Jai Courtney (Dutton Ranch), Jack Quaid (The Boys), Jaeden Martell (The Boy in the Iron Box), and LaMonica Garrett (Lioness) for starring roles.

Character details are under wraps. Written by Evan Cooper, the film finds five convicts trying to escape through the mountains following a violent train robbery, while shackled together by foot.

Nina Yang Bongiovi, Paul Hadad, Glenn Kleczkowski, and Mark Gillard are producing, with Danny Peykoff exec producing, and Peykoff’s Big Newport Studios as the production company. WME Independent is handling sales.

Watch on Deadline

Coming off of Avatar: Fire and Ash, which grossed over $1.4B worldwide, Worthington’s upcoming slate includes Netflix’s Harlen Coben series I Will Find You, premiering June 18; crime thriller The Exiles with David Duchovny; Alejandro Monteverde’s Zero A.D.; and still more Avatar films to come. He is represented by WME, Anonymous Content, and Hansen Jacobson.

Courtney can currently be seen starring in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone spin-off series Dutton Ranch, alongside Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser. Upcoming, he has Netflix’s Protecting Jared from director Ruben Fleischer, comedic thriller The Very Best People, and writer-director Blaise Beyhan’s Callback. He is represented by UTA and Morrissey Management.

Quaid has recently been seen starring in Amazon’s hit series The Boys and will be seen coming up in Amazon MGM’s comedy Close Personal Friends, opposite Brie Larson. He is represented by UTA, Anonymous Content, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.

Known for starring in Andy Muschietti’s It films, as well as projects like Knives Out and Y2K, Martell will be seen coming up in Netflix’s feature adaptation of the short story The Boy in the Iron Box, from Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. He is represented by CAA, Emily Cho Talent Management, and Jackoway Austen.

Perhaps best known for his work in Taylor Sheridan series like Lioness and the Yellowstone prequel 1883, Garrett stars in the upcoming film Man of War and is represented by Paradigm and Coronel Group.
