Netflix has hired a Fremantle strategy chief as content strategy lead in Spain, France and Italy.
Gabriella Carriere took on the Director of Content Programming Strategy & Operations role for the three crucial nations earlier this month, according to her post on LinkedIn.
She was most recently Group Head of Strategy & New Business for Fremantle, which makes the likes of Too Hot to Handle for Netflix.
Prior to this she spent five years at Sky Italia, working her way up from Strategy Manager to a senior director in the marketing and commercial team.
“Excited to share that Gabriella Carriere has joined Netflix to lead our Content Strategy for Spain, Italy and France,” said a post from Lina Brounéus, Carriere’s new boss and Netflix EMEA’s VP of Content Programming Strategy & Operations. “From our first conversations, it was clear that her passion for content and her extensive experience would be a great fit for Netflix. We’re incredibly happy to have her on board and excited about the expertise and energy she’s bringing to the team.”
Carriere added: “So excited to join Netflix at such a great time! Very grateful to Lina Brouneus for the trust, and already feeling this is going to be an incredible adventure.”
Some of Netflix’s biggest hits have come out of Spain, Italy and France, including the likes of Money Heist and Lupin. All three nations have built-out creative and commissioning teams. Larry Tanz oversees EMEA for the streamer.
