Everything We Know About ‘We Were Liars’ Season 2 So Far
Dessi Gomez · 2026-05-09 · via News

Prime Video is headed back to Beechwood Island for a second season of its YA series adaptation We Were Liars.

Based on E. Lockhart’s novel of the same name, the first season splashed onto the streamer in the summer of 2025 with all episodes at once. It received a Season 2 renewal in September of that year.Since then, Lockhart has published another novel set in the same universe, We Fell Part.

For all the secrets of We Were Liars Season 2, read on.

What will Season 2 of We Were Liars be about?

Season 2 will draw from Lockhart’s prequel novel, Family of Liars, which focuses on the three Sinclair sisters who are aunts and mothers to the titular liars in Lockhart’s original novel.

Emily Alyn Lind’s Cadence Sinclair, who narrates the book We Were Liars and the first season of the show, will be back at the island off the East Coast as well. “As she digs deeper into family secrets, she learns about the Sinclair Sisters’ summer of 1999 — a summer rife with first love, rivalry, and even murder,” the logline reads. “In flashbacks, we see Carrie (Lapaine), Penny (Roorbach), and Bess (Wolfe) navigate their own teenage summer, as they come to terms with their past in the present day.”

Who else will be back in We Were Liars Season 2?

Joseph Zada — who will soon be seen as a younger version of Haymitch Abernathy in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping — will return to reprise his role of Johnny Sinclair, whose ghost haunts his mother, Carrie (Mammie Gummer) in a coda scene in the first season and provides a way into her past.

Dempsey Bryk, who plays a character new for the show, Ebon, has been upped to a series regular for Season 2. Described as a rough-around-the-edges Boston guy who spends his summers among the blue-blooded elite, captaining a charter boat for senators and celebrities,” Ebon will be back on Martha’s Vineyard after losing his love interest Mirren (Esther McGregor) last summer.

“He’s got a fresh chip on his shoulder and absolutely no interest in being pulled into rich people’s sordid secrets — but it’s hard to avoid in these murky waters,” his character description and logline read.
“They’ve told me a little bit about the arc of the character,” Bryk told Deadline at SXSW Film Festival 2026, where his directorial debut Crash Land, premiered. “They’ve told me a little bit about the arc of the character. I’m really excited. It’s something new, but it feels really authentic to how they wrote him in the first season.”

Are there new cast members for Season 2 of We Were Liars?

Yes, Prime Video has unveiled who will play younger versions of David Morse’s Harris Sinclair, Wendy Crewson’s Tipper Sinclair and their three daughters Carrie, Penny (Caitlin Fitzgerald) and Bess (Candice King).
