We’re getting a look at Sam Reid‘s Lestat De Lioncourt performing Billy Idol’s “Dancing with Myself” in the wild first trailer for Anne Rice’s The Vampire Lestat. You can watch it above and see several photos below.
The latest chapter in Rice’s Immortal Universe follows Reid’s Lestat as the world’s first immortal rock star on an electric multi-city tour, while he’s haunted by “muses” from his rebellious past. As his band’s popularity and star power rise, so does Lestat’s influence over vampires and humans alike, leaving others to contend with Lestat’s power in the face of the Great Conversion, an unnatural surge in the vampire population.
The trailer begins with a voiceover. “You’ve been alive and undead for 265 years. You witnessed the French Revolution, the electric light, the atomic bomb,” followed by the voice of Lestat himself. “I am The Vampire Lestat,” he proclaims. “It’s my era. I’m a rockstar now.”
In addition to Reid, The Vampire Lestat stars Jacob Anderson, Assad Zaman, Eric Bogosian, Delainey Hayles and Jennifer Ehle. The series is executive produced by Mark Johnson, creator, writer and showrunner Rolin Jones, Hannah Moscovitch, along with Christopher Rice and the late Anne Rice.
The Vampire Lestat is technically the third season of Interview with the Vampire, which was renamed in honor of the book title on which the season is based.
AMC Global Media and Lakeshore Records recently released “Long Face” and “All Fall Down,” Lestat’s first two official rock singles, on the Vampire Lestat artist profile pages at major digital music services. The songs’ original music and lyrics, by series’ composer Daniel Hart and performed by Reid, will be featured in the series, and additional new tracks will roll out in the coming months.
The Vampire Lestat premieres Sunday, June 7 at 9 pm ET/PT on AMC and AMC+.
