Melissa Collazo To Lead ‘The Probability Of Miracles’ Alo...

EXCLUSIVE: Melissa Collazo (Motorheads, One of Us Is Lying) will lead Prime Video‘s The Probability of Miracles, alongside Henry Eikenberry (Euphoria, The Crowded Room). The series is a TV adaptation of the novel of the same name by Wendy Wunder.

Additionally, the Girls on the Bus showrunner, Rina Mamoun, has joined the project as co-showrunner, working alongside Katie Lovejoy, who was previously announced as co-showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Mimoun has an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.

Collazo will play Campbell “Cam” Cooper, an irreverent cynic, who has been suffering from neuroblastoma since she was 8 years old. After receiving an “expiration date” from her doctor, Cam’s mother uproots their family to a town called Promise in the hope that a miracle may save Cam’s life. While Cam doesn’t believe in magic or miracles, she goes along for the ride and plans to try to do some normal teenage hijinks with her final summer on earth…but life and Promise have something very different in mind for her.

Eikenberry will play Asher, who is handsome, easygoing, confident, and great with power tools. Asher is exactly who you’d imagine falling in love with if you were moving to a small seaside town for the summer. But underneath his easy-going demeanor, there’s a lot more to Asher than meets the eye.

The Probability of Miracles follows Campbell Cooper, an acerbic teenager dying of cancer who, after receiving a terminal diagnosis, moves with her mom and younger sister to the town of Promise, where miracles are said to happen. Cam, however, doesn’t believe in miracles. How could she when science says she’s definitely going to die? But as she spends her summer in this quirky, mystical town, she discovers that miracles — and falling in love — are still possible, no matter how improbable they may seem.

The series is produced by Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and Amazon MGM Studios. Alloy’s Leslie Morgenstein is also an executive producer, alongside Laura Lancaster. Ella Jones will direct and executive produce the first episode.

Collazo recently starred in Motorheads, Amazon Prime Video’s coming-of-age ensemble drama. Previously, she portrayed Maeve Rojas in Peacock’s One of Us Is Lying, adapted from Karen M. McManus’ bestselling novel. Additional credits for the New Yorker of Puerto Rican descent include Universal and Blumhouse’s Freaky and the DC Universe series Swamp Thing. Collazo is represented by Gersh, Play Management, Venture Entertainment Partners, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Eikenberry broke out in his role on Sam Levinson’s Euphoria, playing the character of Derek. He followed that with roles in Apple TV’s The Crowded Room and the Focus Feature horror comedy Lisa Frankenstein. Other recent credits include Ryan Murphy’s anthology series American Horror Stories and the Indie film Hold Up. He will next be seen in the Peacock limited series Five Star Weekend and Kornél Mundruczó’s film At The Sea. Eikenberry is repped by Linden Entertainment and Gersh.
