There are few surprises in Texas as Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch has been renewed for a second season.

The renewal comes as the show, which stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, has two episodes left to stream of its first season.

Dutton Ranch was always likely to be picked up for a second season after Paramount+ claimed that it was the biggest original series launch in its history.

The show may, however, have to search for a new showrunner after the departure of Chad Feehan, who created the spinoff, ahead of its series launch. Not all Taylor Sheridan-produced series have traditional showrunners, though, with some of his titles favoring directors who handle those duties on set.

Dutton Ranch, which premiered on May 15, stars Reilly and Hauser reprising their Beth and Rip characters from Yellowstone as they move their family to South Texas.

The nine-part series follows the pair as they fight to build a future together with Carter, played by Finn Little, who they took in during the original series.

Ed Harris and Annette Bening also star with Harris as Everett McKinney, a weathered veteran and veterinarian, and Bening as Beulah Jackson, the powerful, cunning and charming head of a major ranch in Texas.

Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind also star in the new series.

The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios. The first season was exec produced by Feehan, Sheridan, John Linson David C. Glasser, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Christina Alexandra Voros, Michael Friedman, Cole Hauser, Kelly Reilly and Keith Cox.
