UPDATE: Matthew Broderick has joined the opening night cast of the star-packed Celebrity Autobiography, opening next week at the Shubert Theatre.

The show, in which celebrities read the “unintentionally hilarious autobiographies” of other celebrities, begins performances tomorrow, Saturday, May 16, with an official opening night on Monday, May 18. The exclusive limited engagement, which will feature a rotating and ever-expanding cast, is scheduled to run through Sunday, August 16.

In addition to the cast members previously announced (see below), the production has announced that Katie Couric, Anthony Anderson, Jason Alexander, Tiler Peck and Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer will take the stage during the run.

PREVIOUS, May 4: Celebrity Autobiography, the international hit comedy created by Eugene Pack in which celebrities act out the “unintentionally hilarious autobiographies” of other celebrities, will make its Broadway debut later this month, officially launching the 2026-2027 Broadway season.

Watch on Deadline

Previews begin May 16 at the Shubert Theatre ahead of a May 18 opening night. The opening cast will will include Scott Adsit, Mario Cantone, Jeff Hiller, Jackie Hoffman, Gayle King, Andrea Martin, Bobby Moynihan, Ben Mankiewicz, Kenan Thompson, Nia Vardalos, Rita Wilson, and Celebrity Autobiography creator Eugene Pack and developer Dayle Reyfel.

The limited engagement runs through August 16, with most stars – drawn from the worlds of stage, TV, film, sports and politics – appearing for a week or two at a time, some just for a night or two, and surprise guests expected.

So far, the constantly-expanding rotating cast of Celebrity Autobiography is set to include, in addition to the opening cast, Brooke Adams, Pamela Adlon, Lewis Black, Christie Brinkley, Danny Burstein, Bob Costas, Tate Donovan, Chloe Fineman, Will Forte, Gina Gershon, Kathy Griffin, Christopher Jackson, Ken Jeong, Gayle King, Stewart Lane, Susan Lucci, Ralph Macchio, Donna McKechnie, Eric McCormack, Bobby Moynihan, Laraine Newman, Oscar Nunez, Cheri Oteri, Tiler Peck, Billy Porter, Phil Rosenthal, Tony Shalhoub, Sherri Shepherd, Molly Shannon, Jennifer Tilly, Bruce Vilanch and Alan Zweibel.

Celebrity Autobiography is produced on Broadway by Rita Wilson, Eric Falkenstein and Douglas Denoff and the show’s original producer Angelo Fraboni, along with Peter Martin, and EP Productions.

In addition to solo autobiography excerpts, the show combines passages from various autobiographies to create ensemble “mash ups that ping pong into riotously funny ‘he said, she said’ scenarios…famous love triangles…and wildly different takes on the same experience,” according to producers.U

Each performance runs about 90 minutes with no intermission, with an unusual (for Broadway) schedule of Mondays at 7:30pm, Thursdays at 5:00pm and 9:00pm, Fridays at 7:30pm, Saturdays at 5:00pm and 9:00pm, and Sundays at 2:00pm and 6:00pm.

Additional rotating casts will be announced shortly.

Celebrity Autobiography has had repeated runs in New York at the Triad Theatre Off Broadway and The Groundlings Los Angeles, as well as London’s West End Leicester Theatre, Edinburgh, Australia’s Sydney Opera House and many other sold-out runs throughout the U.S.

Producer Denoff said in a statement, “I had seen the show several times at the Triad Theatre and felt the hilarity and comedic genius of Celebrity Autobiography deserves a proper run on Broadway…now more than ever.” Both Falkenstein and WIlson soon signed on to produce.

Pack added “This show is inspired by the ‘important’ revealing details recounted in celebrity memoirs–what they eat in every restaurant, how they stack their clothes, what they keep in their freezer and how hard their jobs are. It’s the only time you will ever see this amazing group of stars on a Broadway stage together.”

Scenic Design will be by Derek McLane, Lighting by Ed McCarthy, Sound Design by Palmer Hefferan.
