ChaiFlicks Buys ‘Bloody Murray’ & Renews ‘Shtisel’
Jesse Whitto · 2026-05-21 · via News

EXCLUSIVE: ChaiFlicks, the world’s largest streaming service for Jewish content, has struck another deal with Israel-based distributor Yes Studios.

This compromises exclusive rights to both seasons of the offbeat romantic comedy series Bloody Murray and the renewal of drama series Shtisel. The deal includes SVOD rights to both series in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and the UK.

Season 1 of Bloody Murray will have a U.S. debut on the platform and Season 2 follows as an exclusive global premiere. The series recently won several Israeli TV Academy Awards.

The series follows 30-something roommates Murray (Naomi Levov), a film lecturer specializing in romantic comedies, and Dana (Rotem Sela), a gynaecologist at a hospital, who are both smart and single. Their friendship is tested when Dana falls in love with a man Murray ditched in a car accident, and Murray realizes she has feelings for him, too.

The show was written and created by Stav Idisis, who also directed the second season, and is produced by Kastina Communications and Yes TV.

Bloody Murray is a perfect addition to ChaiFlicks – highly relatable, sharply observed, and tackling the challenges faced by single working women striving to balance career and family, all with humor. We believe this series will strongly resonate with audiences,” said ChaiFlick co-founder Neil Friedman. “Shtisel continues to be one of the most-watched programs on ChaiFlicks, and we’re thrilled that our subscribers can continue enjoying it on the platform.”

ChaiFlicks renewed three seasons of Shtisel, the Netflix breakout series that launched in 2018. It follows a Haredi family living in an ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Jerusalem as they reckon with love, loss, and the doldrums of daily life, and stars Michael Aloni and Shira Haas.

Shtisel was created and written by Ori Elon and Yehonatan Indursky, directed by Alon Zingman and produced by Abot Hameiri and Yes TV.

“We are thrilled to build on our fruitful, long-standing partnership with Chaiflicks by adding two highly acclaimed, character-driven series,” said Yes Studios’ Managing Director, Sharon Levi. “Bloody Murray offers an edgy, contemporary take on the classic romantic comedy, with brilliant writing and themes that resonate deeply. Shtisel, meanwhile, has a proven global track record and a beloved ensemble cast that continues to captivate viewers.”

The deal was negotiated by Bill Weiner, co-founder of ChaiFlicks, and Maya Biton at Yes Studios.
