Donald Trump Now Claims BBC Used AI To Doctor His Jan 6 S...

In his latest swipe at the BBC, Donald Trump has claimed the British broadcaster used AI to doctor his Jan 6 Capitol speech, which the BBC vehemently denies.

Speaking to CBS News’ 60 Minutes, the POTUS, who is suing the BBC for $10B, said the controversial Panorama documentary, which the BBC has admitted edited his speech to create a false impression, in fact used AI to change his words.

“They had my lips speaking words of hate, tremendous hate, that I never said,” said Trump. “They had me making a major statement but it wasn’t me, it was my lips, my face, and they were in sync, but it wasn’t me. I can’t believe it.”

The BBC has already pushed back hard, with a spokeswoman stating: “The clip of President Trump’s January 6th speech that is featured in this Panorama was not created using AI. The programme showed excerpts taken from different parts of the President’s speech.”

Top UK news anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy, who doesn’t work for the BBC, shared Trump’s AI claim on X earlier, adding: “He seems also to actually believe it. Going to make settling the case quite tricky.”

Trump has himself been a big user of artificial intelligence, most recently landing himself in trouble with the influential conservative Christian community by posting a doctored image of himself depicted as a Jesus-like figure.

The BBC is attempting to throw out Trump’s $10B lawsuit, claiming that the Florida court in which the claim has been filed lacks “personal jurisdiction,” the court venue is “improper” and Trump has “failed to state a claim.”

Trump sued the BBC last year. He said that the infamous edit, which saw two sections of his January 6 Capitol speech edited together to make it appear as if he was inciting insurrection, is “false, defamatory, deceptive, disparaging, inflammatory and malicious.” The debacle sparked a crisis at the BBC that saw the Director General and news boss exit.

The BBC spokeswoman added today: “As the BBC has accepted previously, our edit unintentionally created the impression that we were showing a single continuous section of the speech, rather than excerpts from different points in the speech, and this gave the mistaken impression that President Trump had made a direct call for violent action. The BBC has apologised to President Trump for that error.”

Trump is still reeling from being the target of yet another shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner over the weekend. During the CBS interview, Trump lashed out at the presenter after she read a portion of a manifesto left by the suspect who stormed through a security checkpoint.

Trump in his 60 Minutes interview for CBS now falsely claims the BBC used AI to fake his Panorama clips from Jan 6th, rather than what they did which was a misleading edit of his actual speech. And nobody corrects him. He seems also to actually believe it. Going to make settling… pic.twitter.com/3gFhxivrL6
