EXCLUSIVE: HBO Max has added six more to the cast of its one-hour drama pilot How to Survive Without Me: Scarlett Abinante (Animal Kingdom), Genevieve Angelson (The Handmaid’s Tale), Tommy Dewey (Running Point), Matthew Kellison (Jimmy Kimmel Live!), Colette Porch (Hal & Harper), and Ella Rubin (Buzzards: A Johnny Cash Story).

Abinante, Dewey, Kellison, Porch, and Rubin are series regulars; Angelson, a guest star. The actors join an ensemble that includes the previously announced Ray Romano, Joshua Jackson, Kaley Cuoco, Julia Schlaepfer, Jack Ball, Kylar Miranda, Julian Grey, and Rita Wilson.

Abinante and Porch will play fraternal twins Beth and Stephanie, daughters of Kate (Cuoco) and Dan (Dewey). Both are too smart for their own good and have recently developed rebellious streaks and sharp tongues to the alarm of their parents.

Dewey’s Dan is a kind and creative painter, and the only slightly chaotic thing Kate has ever loved. He’s a responsible father and a patient husband who lets Kate take the reins, but at times feels he has to compete for Kate’s attention with her family.

Angelson plays Molly, a wealthy, uptight and demanding woman who makes teachers cry. One of Kate’s regular design clients, Molly is quick to judge and has little patience or filter when annoyed.

Kellison plays Bennett, a high-energy terror. Bennett is Cary (Ball) and Luis’ (Miranda) older child, whose antics have caused problems at school and leave Cary exhausted.

Rubin plays the cute and innocent Dottie, Cary and Luis’ younger child, who remains largely quiet amid the family’s chaos but picks her moments to chime in with the unwitting comedic timing only a small child can have.

Hailing from Berlanti Productions and studio Warner Bros. Television, How to Survive Without Me picks up in the wake of matriarch Beverly’s (Wilson) passing, finding that the De Angelis family have begun to drift, unsure how to manage their complicated, evolving lives without her guidance. But in true Beverly fashion, she found a way to keep running the show from beyond the grave. Should they wish to experience Beverly’s final work, the family must find the time — and make the effort — to remain connected and be there for each other through all of life’s challenges yet to come.

The pilot is written by Greg Berlanti and Bash Doran, with story by Berlanti, Doran and Robbie Rogers. Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman and Rogers are exec producing via Berlanti Productions and its overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.
