‘Moshi Monsters’ Set For Return In Animated Comedy-Action...
Jesse Whitto · 2026-05-13 · via News

EXCLUSIVE: It was an online phenomenon in the early 2010s and a licensing behemoth, and now Moshi Monsters is being reimagined for the late 2020s.

MInd Candy, the company behind the brand, is working former Netflix exec Alexi Wheeler on a new animated action-comedy series. The show will mark Moshi Monsters‘ “full-scale comeback as a multi-platform entertainment franchise,” its makers say.

Targeting a late 2028 launch, the series will reimagine the Moshi universe with “fast-paced, character-driven stories.” Producers are billing it as “Teen Titans meets Gumball, and will aim to introduc the brand to a new generation of children aged 6-12 while bringing in long-time fans.

The series is being developed in partnership with Wheeler’s Wheel in Motion (WIM), the Superprod Group-owned production company based out of London. Since WIM’s launch in 2024, it has focused on developing animated and live-action series for kids and family audiences, with Moshi Monsters amon its biggest projects to date. WIM has strategically focused on working with large IP rights holders, previously announced a co-development of Beast Quest with Cooabi.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Moshi Monsters back in a big way with this new animated series,” said Ross MacLeod, Mind Candy CCO. “This is just the start of our multi-platform relaunch across games, toys, and more, and we can’t wait to introduce the Moshi universe to a whole new generation while celebrating the creativity and imagination that made it a global phenomenon.”

Wheeler added: “I am delighted to be working with the Moshi Monsters team to reestablish such a beloved brand. Moshi Monsters was years ahead of its time in the digital space; the world has now caught up and it is time to bring this incredible set of characters to life for a modern audience.”

Originally launched in 2008 as an online Flash-based game, Moshi Monsters scored more than 100

million registered users worldwide, making it one of the largest digital brands in the world in the early 2010s. That expanded into a substantial consumer product offering, and at its peak, Moshi Monsters was the number one licensed property in the UK, selling over $1B of retail products.

However, Adobe Flash Player closed in 2019, meaning servers for the popular game shut down. The game was officially shutdown in December of that year. However, a money raise in 2025 saw development on a new game begin and we’re now at the point where a major TV series could be forthcoming.

As such, the TV series will forms the centerpiece of a broader multi-platform relaunch, with the new Moshi Monsters game entering Early Access in summer 2026 ahead of a global launch in Q3 2027. New toy and merchandise lines are also scheduled to launch in 2028.
