Michelle Obama's "Hey Queen", also known as Michelle Obama Congratulates Beyonce, is a reaction video series in which former First Lady Michelle Obama congratulated Beyoncé on the release of the artist' documentary "Homecoming". The video, which spread on Twitter in April 2019, features Obama saying, "Hey, queen! Girl, you have done it again, constantly raising the bar for all of us and doing it flawlessly." The video has since been used as both a sincere and sarcastic message of praise online.

Origin

On April 17th, 2019, Beyoncé had released her concert documentary film Homecoming. The following day, on April 18th, former First Lady Michelle Obama tweeted, "So proud of my girl! The Queen has done it again. @Beyonce, thank you for always living your truth. #Homecoming." She had also attached a video of herself congratulating Beyonce on the film[1]. In less than one year, the video has received more than 2.5 million views, 167,000 likes and 37,000 retweets (shown below).

Soon after Michelle Obama's tweet, Twitter users, particularly Stan Twitter, began using different parts, quotes, and stills from the video as reaction images for victorious moments, no matter how small. On April 24th, the Twitter account @ReactionVideos_ shared the clip, receiving more than 8.3 million views, 8,3000 likes and 800 retweets (shown below).

Others began using the video as a reaction. For example, on April 28th, Twitter user @applee_jacksss shared the video as part of a No One tweet. The post received more than 8,000 likes and 1,600 retweets in less than one year (shown below).

On August 8th, the official Twitter account for Genius used it as the reaction to the Megan Thee Trainer song "Hot Girl Summer". The post received more than 24,000 likes and 6,700 retweets in less than one year (shown below).
