Today, we're excited to share that Trey Knowles is joining the team.

Trey joins as a Founding Account Executive with a decade of experience in GTM roles at devtools companies like Vercel, Auth0, Neo4j, and Laravel. His deep knowledge of the developer tooling space and his passion for helping developers succeed make him a great fit for Resend.

More about Trey

How did you get into software?

In college, I was studying business and planning to go into Management Consulting. To make ends meet, I took a part-time job on a brand new team at Qualtrics and quickly realized I'd rather do just about anything at high-growth companies and wear a t-shirt than spend the rest of my career stuck in a shirt and tie.

Later that year, I was encouraged by a mutual connection to apply for an entry-level sales role at an early stage database company in the Bay Area. I ended up getting the offer, but I still had my doubts about sales and I certainly didn't believe any database developer would actually find value in talking with me.

On a leap of faith and the guidance of several mentors, I packed up my Subaru with everything I owned, rented approximately sixty square feet of an apartment in San Mateo, and jumped 100% into the sales role. To my surprise, I turned out to be decent at it. Even more surprising to me, I discovered that actually enjoyed selling.

What does your desktop/home screen look like?

I try to avoid distractions as I'm regularly on calls with customers and I'm also very distractable some days, so I have a midnight navy gradient to match the color of my MacBook.

Why are you at Resend?

Every company in the world uses email and nearly every person on the internet does too.

I believe businesses should spend the maximum amount of time doing the things they are best at. Email infrastructure and deliverability is not something that most companies should spend cycles on, it should just work. Resend makes this just work.

As an admirer from afar over the past several years, I’ve been consistently impressed with the pace of the Resend team and their commitment to quality. I’ve always been interested in companies and products that obsess over the littlest of details.

And once I met the team, I knew immediately that Resend was a place where I could do my best work and be surrounded by people striving to do the same.

Favorite place to visit?

NBA games, preferably at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City to watch the Utah Jazz for whom I have been a lifelong fan. Four-year-old me did not know what he was signing up for, but I have stayed faithful to my Utah Jazz fandom all these years.

Favorite tool?

Pen and Paper. It’s my favorite place to think without distractions and I can easily take a picture and have Claude convert to text on my computer/phone when needed.

Favorite hotkey?

Command + Shift + 4. Screenshots are worth a thousand words. Also, first thing I do on a new MacBook is "Command + Shift + 5" to select the Clipboard as the default location for my screenshots so I don't clutter up my desktop.

Where do you find #inspiration?

Observing greatness! I enjoy watching people who are best in the world at what they do, be it sports, writing, design, cooking, or music. I find inspiration when I see the results of countless hours of intentional practice leading to excellence.
