More about Pauline

How did you get into software?

The more difficult question is, "When was I not in software?" I've loved tech since I was a teenager. I built my first gaming computer at the age of 14. Since then, I have been learning and testing new software and tools.

I went to school for web design and development. Instead of building websites, I found myself drawn to tinkering and troubleshooting, which pushed me towards technical support.

Why are you at Resend?

As a support engineer, I worked closely with developers, uncovering their pain points hidden beneath hundreds of errors and lines of code.

I found deep satisfaction in troubleshooting alongside them, simplifying complex technical issues, and ultimately improving their experience. This collaboration has made developer experience a pivotal focus of my career.

I thrive on being the bridge between developers, design, and product, ensuring that technology is not just functional but also intuitive and user-friendly.

Where do you find #inspiration?

Nature. You'll often find me daydreaming on my terrace, admiring how my plants and fruit trees change through the seasons. I’m inspired by nature's quiet resilience—adapting, changing and thriving.

If you weren't programming, what would you be doing?

I’d probably be a Chef and educator. I’d be growing my own food, nurturing a small urban garden filled with fresh herbs, vibrant vegetables, and seasonal fruits. Cooking and teaching would be an extension of that process—transforming homegrown ingredients into nourishing meals.

Favorite tool?

At the moment, I’m obsessed with the productivity app, Motion. I love that it automatically schedules my daily tasks based on priorities. It takes away the choice fatigue that comes from having a large to-do list.

Favorite hotkey?

⌘ + K - the magic hotkey to unlock everything in a software.

Favorite place to visit?

Kyoto, Japan. I love walking the quaint, charming city in the quiet hours of the morning. For a brief moment, I feel like I traveled back in time, quietly absorbing the tranquil energy before the city slowly comes to life.

Advice for ambitious software engineers?

Ask questions. More often than not, you’re not the first one to encounter a particular issue. Leverage existing knowledge, whether through documentation, colleagues, or open-source communities.

But don’t stop there. Instead of just finding a solution, think about how you can improve the process for the next engineer. Can you enhance documentation, automate a repetitive task, or contribute a fix? The best engineers don’t just solve problems—they create better systems that prevent the same issues from happening again.

Always leave things better than you found them.
