The Magic

Email is unlike any other medium in the world.

With just an address, anyone can talk to anyone, no matter their location, status, or class.

It's democratized access, a sacred privilege, and worth protecting at all costs.

The Problem

Unfortunately, this type of access is often used by bad actors for spam and phishing.

This abuse is widespread in the email industry, and every email platform and email inbox provider works hard to prevent it.

Often, the abuse becomes such an operational burden that the product takes shape around it. This leads to approval flows for production access, requiring credit card details at signup, and ultimately removing the free tier.

Friction points like these make setting up email feel like getting your driver's license.

We believe developers shouldn't have to wait in a queue or jump through hoops to start sending emails. And that's why our philosophy is to always assume positive intent.

The Path Forward

Our mission is for Resend to feel like Central Park.

The park is a safe place for senders to play:

• The rules are clear and memorable
• The ground is safe without shoes
• The bullies aren't in control
• The admission is free

For the good sender, the product should feel open and welcoming.

For the bad actor, the product should feel closed and limited.

We will bear the weight of protecting that space so the good senders can explore and play with the clear guidelines.

The Investment

This vision will not happen naturally. As we continue to onboard thousands of senders every day, it only gets harder to accomplish. We have to push and innovate to continue making our vision a reality.

Today, Resend is committing to investing $3M to build a next-generation safety system.

Over the next three years, we will be hiring and building to pursue our mission of providing the safest and most accessible email platform.
