OpenCloud and esatus show EUDI wallet login in OpenCloud
Anne Gossing · 2026-04-21 · via OpenCloud: Exzellentes Filesharing: Sichere und skalierbare Cloud-Lösungen

Berlin, 22 April 2026 - OpenCloud, the open source platform for file management, file sharing and digital collaboration, and esatus, the expert for identity solutions, have implemented an EUDI wallet-based login in OpenCloud. Access is linked to an identity verified via the EUDI wallet. This creates digital workspaces in which only verified persons work together, which is particularly interesting for authorities and KRITIS and NIS2-regulated organisations.

Digitalisation of administrative processes

Digital processes are already established in many administrative processes today, but they reach their limits where identity, consent and binding nature need to be clearly proven. In practice, this continues to lead to media disruptions, for example due to printouts, scanning processes or personal visits. The showcase demonstrates how proof of identity in OpenCloud can be integrated into digital workflows to reduce media disruptions. Processes can be digitally mapped more consistently across multiple process steps, especially where traceability and controlled access are key requirements.
The use of verified proof of identity in the login process is particularly relevant for public authorities, regulated industries and KRITIS and NIS2-regulated organisations, where identity verification, controlled access and traceability are key requirements. The Federal Ministry for Digital and State Modernisation publicly classifies the EUDI Wallet as one of the most important digitalisation projects currently underway. The showcase jointly realised by OpenCloud and esatus takes up this approach in a concrete application.

QR code login with wallet confirmation

The login is initiated via a QR code in the browser, which is scanned using a smartphone. Confirmation takes place in the EUDI Wallet app, in which the user's identity is verified via the online ID function (eID). After successful confirmation, verified identity data is transferred from the wallet to the application and OpenCloud is activated. The wallet-supported login was implemented and demonstrated together with esatus. The process thus combines a clear login process with verified proof of identity.

"A wallet-based login is more than just a new authentication method. It creates the basis for consistently and reliably mapping identity in digital processes. Together with OpenCloud, we are showing how this approach can be specifically integrated into existing applications," says Dr Andre Kudra, CIO, esatus AG.

"The integration of the EUDI Wallet into OpenCloud shows how well verified identities based on open standards can be integrated into existing environments. With OpenID Connect and Keycloak, the login process could be extended with little effort. This allows organisations to implement new digital identity requirements without having to fundamentally change their infrastructure. We therefore very much welcome the fact that the Federal Ministry for Digital and State Modernisation is relying on open source for the development of the EUDI Wallet," says Tobias Baader, Product Manager at OpenCloud.

Perspective: Signing documents online

Identity verification is an important prerequisite, but does not replace an electronic signature. The showcase addresses access as the first step. The next development step is the integration of approval and signature processes into digital document workflows. This allows documents to be processed further after finalisation in the workspace without media discontinuity.
A closed beta is available on request, in which organisations can test the approach in a clearly defined framework under real conditions and provide feedback.

About esatus AG

esatus AG develops and operates identity solutions for complex IT and system landscapes. For over 35 years, the focus has been on the development and operation of enterprise IAM platforms. Building on this, esatus extends existing architectures to include KYC processes and the integration of verifiable digital identity, for example via the EUDI wallet. With its own SOWL platform, esatus provides issuer, verifier and wallet integration and connects these with existing systems. This enables organisations to incorporate verified proof of identity directly into login, access and trust processes and implement digital processes in regulated environments in a reliable and traceable manner. The solutions are used productively in financial institutions, industry and public infrastructures.
