The woman found dead at her home in west Waterford last Monday will be laid to rest in her native Cork on Sunday.

Noreen Daly, who was 81, had been living in recent months in a house in Ardsallagh, near Youghal Bridge, on the Cork/Waterford border. A man has been charged with her murder

Noreen, a native of Grenagh in Co Cork, had been living in Monkstown in Dublin for several years with her late husband Michael who died in November 2023.

The couple also regularly visited their holiday home in Ardsallagh, Co Waterford, to which Noreen Daly moved on a full-time basis earlier this year.

In her death notice published on Rip.ie on Thursday evening, Noreen’s family — including five siblings — said she was the “dearly loved, cherished and devoted wife of the late Michael, the love of her life and her constant companion”.

The couple had no children.

The notice also said that she “adored” her siblings “beyond measure” and that her relatives, friends, and neighbours were “touched by her warmth, kindness, and gentle nature”.

She will lie in repose in the Coburg Street funeral home of Jerh O’Connor and Sons on Saturday evening between 4pm and 5pm.

Her funeral Mass will take place at 11am on Sunday morning in St Lachteen’s Church in Grenagh, Co Cork, followed by burial in the local cemetery.

The family requested that any donations be made to Women’s Aid in lieu of flowers.
