Belgium and Poland are live. France goes live in September. Germany, Spain, and the UK are phasing in. Here is what is happening, and why Tradeshift is the platform built to handle all of it.

2026 is the year e-invoicing compliance stopped being a future planning exercise and became an operational reality across Europe. If your business operates across more than one of these markets, you are managing a different format, a different network, and a different deadline in each country. That complexity compounds and it only grows from here.

Stay updated on e-Invoicing compliance news by following our Compliance blog.

How Does the E-Invoicing Compliance Mandate Landscape Look in 2026?

Belgium went live on 1 January 2026, mandating structured B2B e-invoices in EN 16931 format transmitted via Peppol. The tolerance period ended in March and fines of up to €1,500 per infringement are now in force.

Poland followed with KSeF 2.0, live for large taxpayers from 1 February 2026 and extended to all VAT-registered businesses from 1 April 2026, with all invoices flowing through the government portal in FA(3) XML format.

France delivers the year’s biggest go-live in September 2026: large and mid-sized businesses must send and receive structured e-invoices through a certified Plateforme Agréée (PA). Tradeshift is permanently registered PA (Plateforme Agréée immatriculée définitive) since January 6th 2026, being among the first to receive this recognition from the French authorities.

Germany, meanwhile, continues its phased rollout, which means structured invoice receipt has been mandatory since January 2025, with mandatory issuance rolling out through 2027 and 2028.

Spain is finalising both its VeriFactu framework (January 2027) and its Crea y Crece B2B mandate (mid-2027). And the United Kingdom is preparing for a mandate expected around 2029, following HMRC’s consultation process and ongoing Making Tax Digital expansion. Tradeshift is one of the few providers involved in the consultation process with the British authorities.

What Is ViDA and How Is It Impacting Multi-National Companies?

ViDA (VAT in the Digital Age) is the EU’s most sweeping VAT reform since the single market. Formally adopted in March 2025, it sets a compliance trajectory that runs through to 2035.

The headline: from 1 July 2030, all intra-Community B2B transactions must use EN 16931-compliant structured e-invoices, with near-real-time digital reporting to tax authorities. A single VAT registration via an expanded One-Stop Shop will also be available from 2028, reducing the administrative burden of multi-country compliance.

What makes ViDA particularly demanding is that it does not replace national mandates,  it layers on top of them. A business with operations in France, Belgium, Germany, and Spain already juggles multiple formats, networks, and reporting channels. ViDA adds cross-border digital reporting on top of all of that. Managing this effectively requires treating compliance as a global function, not a country-by-country project.

How Is Tradeshift Handling ViDA and the Global E-Invoicing Mandates?

Tradeshift has operated at the intersection of e-invoicing and global compliance for over fifteen years. Today, that means live, certified coverage across every key market:

  • Belgium: Peppol BIS 3.0 e-invoice issuance and receipt; preparation for 2028 e-reporting
  • Poland: Full KSeF 2.0 integration with FA(3) XML schema and real-time portal submission
  • France: Factur-X, UBL, and CII support; active Plateforme Agréée certification engagement
  • Germany: XRechnung and ZUGFeRD 2.1 formats; certified Peppol Access Point connectivity
  • Spain: UBL format; FACeB2B connectivity; VeriFactu audit trail framework support
  • UK: Peppol-ready; monitoring HMRC developments ahead of the 2029 mandate

For ViDA, Tradeshift’s architecture is already aligned. As a certified Peppol Access Point supporting EN 16931, the platform is built for cross-border digital reporting from 2030. Customers will not need to re-integrate or re-certify — compliance updates are delivered as part of the service.

In 2025 and 2026 alone, France revised its PA specifications, Poland updated its FA(3) schema, Spain delayed its VeriFactu timeline, and Belgium introduced a last-minute tolerance period. Every one of those changes was absorbed into Tradeshift’s platform ahead of the deadline, so customers didn’t have to manage the complexity themselves.

Why Choose Tradeshift as Your Global E-Invoicing Provider?

One platform. Every mandate. Every market.

For project managers overseeing multi-country rollouts, this changes the conversation entirely. One integration with your ERP, such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or Workday, connects you to every required network and format, eliminating the need for separate local solutions in each jurisdiction.

For tax and finance managers, it means a unified audit trail and compliance dashboard across all markets, with mandate updates applied automatically. For IT and EDI specialists, there is no rip-and-replace, as Tradeshift works alongside your existing infrastructure. With over 1.5 million businesses already on the network, supplier onboarding — one of the most demanding operational challenges in any e-invoicing programme — is dramatically simplified from day one.

The Mandate Wave Is Here. One Platform Can Handle It All.

Tradeshift is a flexible, global e-invoicing compliance platform available in 27 languages. We are a permanently registered Plateforme Agréée (PA) in France and a Certified Peppol Access Point since 2014.

Beyond keeping your business aligned with every mandate across Europe and beyond, its agentic AI capabilities make it a genuinely powerful AP platform by automating invoice processing, resolving exceptions autonomously, and delivering the supply chain visibility that modern finance teams need. It is not just a compliance tool; it is the intelligent financial hub for the forward-looking enterprise.

ViDA and the Future of EU e-Invoicing: What Global Companies Need to Know

The VAT in the Digital Age initiative is the most significant change to European tax rules in decades. By 2030, the EU will move to a unified system for real-time digital reporting and mandatory e-invoicing for cross-border trade. However, the immediate challenge for global companies is managing the wave of national mandates launching right now in 2026. From France and Germany to Poland and Belgium, businesses are facing a fragmented landscape of technical requirements.
