C. John Grivner serves as Executive Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. Prior to assuming this role, he served as the founding Chief of the Border and Immigration Crimes Enforcement (BICE) Section, where he led the District’s specialized section focused on investigations and prosecutions involving border security, maritime interdiction, narcotics trafficking, immigration enforcement, and transnational smuggling threats.

Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, Mr. Grivner worked in the private investment sector, primarily in subsea and terrestrial communications infrastructure.

Mr. Grivner was commissioned as a Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force in 2009 and served on both active duty and in the Air Force Reserve; he currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force Reserve. Through his military service, he has led major military justice programs, directed complex investigations, and tried dozens of cases as both a prosecutor and defense counsel. In addition to his overseas assignments, he has been detailed to the Department of Justice along the Mexican border in West Texas, one of the nation’s busiest and most challenging corridors for immigration enforcement, and has also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Northern District of Florida and the District of Colorado.

Mr. Grivner received his Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and his Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
