Jason A. Reding Quiñones is a Miami native and lifelong Floridian. The son of a Cuban political refugee, he was raised in Miami-Dade County and attended Miami-Dade County Public Schools. He has devoted his career to public service as a federal prosecutor, national security official, state court judge, and military officer.

He was sworn in as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida on August 13, 2025, following his nomination by President Donald J. Trump and confirmation by the United States Senate. He was the first United States Attorney confirmed during President Trump’s second administration. Attorney General Pamela Bondi administered the oath of office.

Before his appointment as United States Attorney, Reding Quiñones served as a trial judge in Florida’s Eleventh Judicial Circuit in Miami, where he presided over civil and criminal domestic violence cases. His prior federal service includes work as a national security official in the Department of Justice’s National Security Division, where he focused on counterterrorism and intelligence matters, and as a federal prosecutor in both the Eastern District of Virginia and the Southern District of Florida, where he handled and tried civil and criminal cases on behalf of the United States.

U.S. Attorney Reding Quiñones serves on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee, a select group of United States Attorneys that advises the Attorney General on national law-enforcement policy, public-safety initiatives, and the operation of the nation’s U.S. Attorney’s Offices. He also serves as co-chair of the Committee’s White Collar, Cyber Fraud, and Cryptocurrency Subcommittee and as a member of its Artificial Intelligence Subcommittee. The White Collar Subcommittee focuses on major financial crimes, including fraud, money laundering, embezzlement, and cyber-enabled schemes that target Americans, particularly vulnerable populations. It also works to strengthen national coordination in complex cases that may exceed the capacity of any one U.S. Attorney’s Office.

A decorated veteran with more than 23 years of military service, U.S. Attorney Reding Quiñones has served in both the United States Army and the United States Air Force as a cavalry scout, infantry officer, logistics officer, and judge advocate. He currently serves as the senior reserve judge advocate to the Commander of U.S. Central Command, or USCENTCOM, one of the nation’s geographic combatant commands responsible for military operations across the Middle East and Central Asia. In that role, he provides legal counsel to the four-star commander on national security, armed conflict, and intelligence matters. On April 1, 2026, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel.

His military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal; four Meritorious Service Medals; two Joint Service Commendation Medals; five Air Force Commendation Medals; the Army Commendation Medal; the Joint Service Achievement Medal; and the Air Force Achievement Medal. These awards recognize more than two decades of distinguished service, leadership, and contributions to national security.

U.S. Attorney Reding Quiñones graduated from the Air Force’s professional military leadership programs, including Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, and Air War College. These leadership schools prepare officers for command and senior strategic responsibilities.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, with a minor in Military Sciences, from the University of Florida and a Juris Doctor from Florida International University College of Law.
