Developed through a collaboration between the Tepper School of Business and the School of Computer Science, the newly launched AI for Business program brings together Carnegie Mellon's internationally recognized expertise in business and artificial intelligence. Delivered in a flexible, asynchronous format, AI for Business enables professionals to build practical AI knowledge from anywhere while learning how to translate the technology's potential into measurable organizational impact.

“Artificial intelligence is transforming how corporations operate, compete, and grow,” said Laurence Ales, Interim Dean of the Tepper School. “This program is designed to help individuals understand where AI creates value and how to apply it thoughtfully and ethically within their organizations.”

As organizations across industries continue to integrate AI into their operations, the need for accessible, non-technical education has grown. AI for Business responds to that demand by focusing on practical application rather than technical development.

“AI is no longer just a tool for computer scientists. It is essential businesses approach AI with foundational understanding and practical insights,” said Martial Hebert, dean of the School of Computer Science. “The AI for Business program bridges the gap between AI’s potential and its business applications. Participants will learn how to strategically deploy AI to drive innovation and business value.”

Participants will gain foundational knowledge of key AI tools and concepts while learning how to evaluate opportunities, assess risks, and make informed decisions about implementation. The curriculum emphasizes real-world application across business functions, balancing technical capabilities with organizational readiness and strategic priorities.

“Organizations today are not just asking what AI can do, but how it should be used,” said Kris Risi, Assistant Dean of Executive Education at the Tepper School. “This program helps individuals approach AI with clarity and responsibility, ensuring that technology is applied in ways that create meaningful impact.”

The program is designed specifically for non-technical audiences, with no coding experience required. Instead, it focuses on building the vocabulary, frameworks, and confidence needed to engage with AI in a data-informed environment.

“Carnegie Mellon has been at the forefront of artificial intelligence for decades,” said Ram Konduru, Director of Executive and Professional Education at the School of Computer Science. “This program extends that expertise to a broader audience, helping individuals engage with AI in ways that are accessible, relevant, and immediately applicable.”

Through AI for Business, Carnegie Mellon is expanding access to world class expertise, equipping professionals around the globe with the knowledge and practical frameworks needed to harness artificial intelligence responsibly and effectively.
