Is there a way to do a "bind overlay"? [LWN.net]
parametricpo · 2026-06-14 · via LWN.net comments

There's also fuse based mergerfs for all sorts of wacky mounting scenarios.

I'm a big fan of overlayfs and have enjoyed many things like layered containers with squashfs, squashfs + nbd/nfs + some writable top level.

Would be nice if one could also eject lower layers from a live overlay. Maybe that's already possible.
