(author here) My noted cluster size in the article is significantly less than your example here so that's a pretty useful data point to have. The failures and subsequent recoveries that I've been through have had a similar feel to them; that is, still operationally functional but with a slow "healing" process over time.

I appreciate that note about LMDB compactions, those sort of insights are hard to gather without lots of active experience.
