staging is already occasionally used for these cases, as far as I know. Making them depend on BROKEN in their Kconfig is also a sure-fire way to prevent over-eager distributions from enabling them. One problem is that it doesn't really shut off the valve on the "CRITICAL CVE ACT NOW ACT NOW" firehose being directed into gregkh's inbox, and arguably worsens it because he's now also at the receiving end of patches due to being staging's maintainer. All the while probably neither maintainer nor patch author (unattributed Claude, in all likelihood) has the hardware, so nobody ever ran the code on it.
