When I used EAC, I used burst mode on the problematic CD's.
Since I have lost rips to crashed hardware (real men don't take backups, but they cry a lot ;) ), I have now used Claude Code to build the ultimate ripping system that runs on linux (and macos). The ripping process is done by using cdparanoia in paranoia mode - if that fails, it retries with paranoia off; if that also fails, burst mode.
(The reason I build my own system is primarily to handle multiple drives sensibly, and support multiple ripping machines if wanted.)
