一次创业是赌博,十次创业是数学

想象这样一个场景:你坐在德州扑克的牌桌前。手里捏着两张底牌,桌面上摊着五张公共牌,面前堆着一摞筹码。每一个决定——过牌(Check)、下注(Bet)、加注(Raise)、弃牌(Fold)——都是在信息不完整的情况下执行的逻辑判断。

现在,再想想你的创业公司。你有一个产品点子,一个目标市场,还有一段资金跑道(Runway)。每一个决定——发布、转型(Pivot)、招人、裁员——其背后的机制完全一样。

人们常有一种误解,认为创业是一门艺术,是专属于远见卓识者的灵光一现。但在经历了 10 年的构建、失败和偶尔的胜利后,我得出了一个不同的结论。创业不是艺术。它是概率学。

具体来说,它是 执行力数学 的交汇点。

大多数首次创业者把创业当成买彩票。他们刮开涂层,祈祷出现三个樱桃(大奖),如果输了,就觉得这游戏有黑幕。但老练的构建者和投资人像德州扑克职业选手一样玩这个游戏。他们不靠运气;他们靠系统。

扑克高手的算法

如果你观察职业扑克选手,你可能会发现一些无聊的事实:他们经常弃牌。他们追求的不是赌博的肾上腺素,而是在执行一套策略。

他们脑子里有一套算法。他们会评估手牌强度、牌面结构以及对手的行为。他们计算底池赔率(Pot Odds)。如果期望值(EV)是正的,他们就推筹码;如果是负的,他们就盖牌。

这里有个关键点:高手可能打得完美无缺,但依然会输。

这就是波动性(Variance)的本质。但他们知道,如果他们做出一千次数学上正确的决定,大数定律(Law of Large Numbers)会保证他们最终赢得比本金更多的筹码。他们是在不断优化获胜的概率。

在创业世界里,你的“算法”就是你的执行能力。它是你的发布速度,你与用户交谈的能力,你对设计的直觉。当你构建产品时,你不仅仅是为了赢得这一局;你是在打磨你的算法,以便下一次做出更好的决策。

VC 的投资组合理论

投资人本能地理解这个游戏,通常比创始人理解得更透彻。他们把资产配置视为一种组合策略。

一个 VC 知道,在 20 笔投资中:

  • 10 个会归零。
  • 5 个能回本。
  • 4 个会有不错的回报。
  • 1 个会成为独角兽。

那一个“全垒打”不仅需要成功,还需要获得巨大的成功,以至于能覆盖其他 19 个项目的损失并让整个基金盈利。这就是幂律法则(Power Law)。

当投资组合里的某家公司倒闭时,投资人不会哭泣。这只是一次弃牌。他们在玩无限游戏,依靠他们的投资逻辑(方法论)来长期筛选赢家。他们押注的是 概率分布,而不是单一结果。

创始人的困境(与解法)

这对我们这些构建者来说是痛苦的。不像 VC 可以一次下注 20 个项目,创始人通常每 5 到 7 年才能下注一次。我们在单手牌上是 "All in"(全押)的状态。

当你 All in 的时候,一张糟糕的河牌(市场崩盘、竞争对手出现、发布失败)带来的情绪代价是毁灭性的。你会觉得这是针对你个人的。你会觉得失败的是 自己。

但让我们通过“创始人算法”的视角来看待这个问题。

你的方法论就是你的优势。

就像扑克选手打磨策略一样,你也有你的工具箱:精益创业原则、MVP 开发、增长黑客、客户探索。

  1. 发牌(The Deal): 你发现了一个问题(手牌)。
  2. 翻牌(The Flop): 你发布一个 MVP 来试水。
  3. 转牌(The Turn): 你获取数据。用户讨厌它?转型(弃牌)。用户喜欢它?加倍投入(加注)。
  4. 河牌(The River): 你规模化扩张,或者消亡。

每当你跑完这个循环——发布、通过数据衡量、学习——你就在更新你内部的概率模型。你在变得更擅长阅读牌桌。

这就是为什么我告诉新创始人:不要爱上你手中的牌。要爱上这场游戏。

十次法则

这里有一个没人愿意多谈的真相:创业一次是赌博。创业十次是职业生涯。

如果你做了一个产品,因为失败就退出了,那你只是赌场的观光客。你玩了一把,因为运气不好输了,然后抱怨着离开了。

但如果你致力于成为一名终身构建者,数学概率就会向你倾斜。

假设你第一次创业的成功率是 5%。这已经很慷慨了。你不知道自己在做什么。你过度设计代码,忽视市场营销,定价错误。

但你发布了。你失败了。你学到了东西。

在你第二次尝试时,成功率可能是 8%。你复用了一些代码。你有了一个小的邮件列表。

到了第五次尝试,你有了人脉,你知道如何在 48 小时内验证点子,你有了一定的声誉。你的成功率可能变成了 25%。

如果你玩这个游戏十次,其中 至少有一次 成功的概率将无限接近确定性。这变成了数学上的必然。

这就是“创业持久战”。胜利不属于第一次尝试就走运的天才(虽然我们都羡慕他们)。胜利属于那些坚持留在牌桌上,直到概率与其实力相匹配的磨砺者。

实战建议

那么,我们如何将这种扑克思维应用到日常工作中呢?

  1. 缩短单局时长: 在扑克中,一手牌只需要 2 分钟。在创业中,一“手”牌可能耗时 2 年。这太慢了。缩短你的反馈循环。你能在 2 周内验证一个功能吗?能在 2 天内测试一个市场吗?你每年玩的局数越多,你的算法进化得就越快。

  2. 别去追回损失(Don't Chase Losses): 这就是“沉没成本谬误”。如果市场(牌面)清楚地显示你赢不了,那就弃牌。不要因为已经投入了 6 个月,就再烧掉 6 个月的资金跑道。把你的筹码(时间和金钱)留给一手更好的牌。

  3. 资金管理(Bankroll Management): 职业选手从不会把 100% 的净资产压在一张桌子上。作为创始人,保护好你的理智和个人财务。不要在项目 A 上耗尽心力,以至于精神上无法负担启动项目 B。

  4. 复盘(Review Your Game Tape): 职业选手会在赛后分析牌局。你会吗?发布失败后,你是只会沮丧?还是会进行一次无责复盘(Blameless Post-mortem)来更新你的心智模型?

最后的筹码

我见过才华横溢的工程师在一次失败后就退出了。我也见过普通的开发者因为坚持不断发布产品而成功。

区别不在于智商。而在于是否理解这是一个无限游戏。

你正在构建一个经验的投资组合。有些会是失败(坏账)。有些会是小胜(现金牛)。如果你坚持优化你的执行力并正确地打好每一手牌,最终,你会拿到坚果牌(The Nuts,扑克术语,意为必胜牌)。

把你的筹码留在桌上。洗牌,发牌。
