At the time the house was built, Woolooware Road was transforming from estates of four to seven acres, many with horse paddocks and fruit orchards.
In 1954, Lesley and Richard Loaney acquired a portion of land on which the garage of The Gables had been located and began building their home, which was completed in 1955.

Richard established a butcher shop at 151 Woolooware Road in the early 1960s, and was well known for riding his horse to work each day. The shop now operates as Burraneer Gourmet Meats.
The property at 467 Woolooware Road will be auctioned by Highland unless sold beforehand. No price guide was available.
Located on a 3092 square metre, level, battle axe block, the house has sweeping views of Port Hacking.
